Bartolo Luna Baptism question...

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15187-51967-43?cc=1804458&wc…

(1st record on the 2nd page)

Although I'm getting a little better reading these records, I'm still not where I would like to be.

I believe this links to the Baptism of Bartolo Luna (07Feb1668), sister to my 7th GGM - Cecelia Luna. Can anyone read the surname of the his mother - Lorenza _________? The father's name is also Bartolo.

I would also like to connect with anyone else who descends from this line.

Thanks in advance,
Roy

Angela Lucia Andrade Vidro

In checking through the Dispensations posted recently I found one that seems to be related to Angela Lucia(AKA Andrade, Lopez) Vidro (wife of Miguel Calletano Villegas Pelayo) from whom many with relations in the areas of Tenemaxtlan, Ayutla, Tecolotlan, and Ejutla are descended. Here is the link: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18415-80760-36?cc=1874591&wc…

What caught my eye is that the Father of the Groom is named Alejo Andrade and I am considering that Angela Lucia could be a sister. I located the Marriage for Alejo Andrade And Nicolasa Ortega dated 20 May, 1731(Cocula; Film 232884; Image 398) but it fails to list Alejo's parents.

In searching for Sebastian, the GGrandfather, I did locate Sebastian Gomez Vidro and Nicolasa Morales whose daughter's, Isabel, whose marriage is mentioned in Expediantes Mtrimoniales, Image 35: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18577-54955-93?cc=1874591&wc…

If someone can make sense in the search for this elusive ancestor, it would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions?

New member introduction

Hello,

My name is Kathleen LaPoint, and I just started this research a couple months ago. My mother was born in Wisconsin, and her parents and older siblings were born in Arandas. My files show four generations of my mothers’s ancestors, starting with my grandparents. I have a few more generations that I still need to verify; I should be able to upload those files soon.

The locations I’ve found so far in church and civil records are Arandas, Santa Maria de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno, San Miguel el Alto, Encinillas, and Unión de San Antonio.

Surnames are Magaña, Vera, Lara, Gutiérrez, Palomino, Vivanco, Villagrana, Garcia, Aguilar, Gonzalez, Hernandez, Rodriguez, Aceves, Muñoz, Horta, Espinosa, Balderrama, Moreno, Sermeño, Martin, and de Arcos.

I recently had DNA analysis performed by 23andme and have uploaded the data to familytreedna.com and GEDmatch (data are still being processed at GEDmatch).

I’ve started looking through some member files, but the images on doc and docx files aren't visible. Does anyone know why that might be?

Thank you Joseph for starting this group and to all of you for your contributions. I’m learning a lot already going the archives and looking forward to working with you.

Regards,
Kathleen

Gracias!

The Marriage of Jerónimo de Sierra and Ángela de Águila, in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas (Aug 8, 1668).

This dispensation is found in Arturo Ramos Pinedo's book, "Familias Antiguas de Tlaltenango" on page 74. I looked at the original dispensation via Family Search, and I believe that at least one of the surnames is incorrect in Arturo's book. The witnesses' surname was printed in Arturo's book as Andrés de Cabrera, but I am almost certain that it is actually Andrés de Talabera. Here is a link to the original dispensation:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15265-25184-8?cc=1804458&wc=…

Also, I am also very interested in deciphering the madrina's surname. Arturo has it listed as Isabel Estrada or Andrade. I agree with her first name being Isavel, but I believe her surname may not be Estrada or Andrade. All I can decipher is the end of here surname being "...drada".

Any help from other members and/or Arturo would be appreciated.

Thanks

Help with Aurelio Orzua ( or Ursua) Paz, from Jalisco Mexico

Looking for help from the group to find Aurelio Orzua Paz. In reserching Aurelio Orzua ( or Ursua) Paz, Christened on 31 Jul 1865 in San Francisco De Asis Jocotepec, Jalisco, Mexico.
I have been unable to find a birth, marrige or death certificate. All that I know is his daughter name is Maria Del Refugio Paz, from Jalisco Mexico born 4 Jul 1894, death 1976 in Pomona California ( Los Angeles County) .

It is possible that Aurelio's parents ( Rosario Paz and Ladislao Orzua) are related becuase of the realtionship of Aurelio's mother Ladislao to our grandfather Savino Orzua ( or Ursua) from San Antonio, Jalisco Mexico.

The only record I found was in family Search:

Name:

Christening Date: 31 Jul 1865
Christening Place: SAN FRANCISCO DE ASIS,JOCOTEPEC,JALISCO,MEXICO
Mother: Ladislao Orzua

System Origin: Mexico-ODM

I need help finding document a document.

20 Feb 1666

I have not been able to find the document in Guadalajara that was submitted for the above marriage to take place, in Tlaltenango. Any help would be appreciated. SInce they were related, I believe the document from Guadalajara would contain quite a bit of information regarding their relationship.

Thanks in Advance

does any know any of the name of francisca lerma(wife of onofre avila)'s grandparents

i found this marriage dispensation
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18413-1697-38?cc=1874591&wc=…

it says they are second cousins once removed. it doesn't say how though, but i do know that francisca lerma is the 'natural' child of juana carrillo. does anyone here know who juana carrillo parents are? i might be able to figure out they related through that.

Gedmatch is available again

For everyone that has gotten a Family Finder, 23andme, or Ancestry.com test
you can now upload your raw file to www.gedmatch.com

This will allow you to do several things.

1. Find relatives that have taken one of the above tests from one of the
other companies that you have not tested with. Example - You had a Family
Finder test and your 3rd or 4th cousin had a Ancestry.com or 23andme test.
Now instead of one of them having to transfer their results to Family
Finder for a fee you can now compare your raw data at www.gedmatch.com

2. Triangulate in order to find which chromosome and segment you match
other people on. Once you are able to find 2 other people that match on a
certain chromosome and segment then you can try and determine which
ancestor that specific chromosome and segment passed it down to you. Now
everyone else that matches on that specific chromosome and segment almost
certainly is related through that line.

Even if you don't have your results yet you can register at the site at
http://ww2.gedmatch.com:8006/autosomal/register.php

Hopefully everyone that has test results or has ordered tests from Family
Finder, 23andme, or Ancestry.com is willing to upload their data so we can
use this fairly new genealogical tool.

Joseph Ramírez de Prado (Edad/Age)

Estimados Miembros,

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18403-17742-3?cc=1874591&wc=…

DNA Results

Hi all,

I just got my FTDNA results this evening. It's rather complicated, so I'm going to have to read up a bit on interpreting the info. It doesn't look like the Family Finder basic gives you your haplogroup, unless I'm missing it.

I took the Ancestry.com test a year or so ago. My results there, separated according to my guess:

Father:
British Isles-34%
Scandinavian 11% (I'm assuming it was Viking, leaving some DNA in England and Ireland.)

Mother (full-blooded Mexican):
East Asian;17% (Native American, I think)
South Asian 10% (Roma, I think, from Spain)
Native North American: 8%
Native South American: 6%
Southern European: 7% (Spanish)

Total:
European: 52%
--------

FTDNA results:
Western European: 52.94%
Native American: 10.91%
East Asian: 21.49%
South Asian: 14.66%

The percentages appear to be very close to each other.

Beyond this, I'm still not sure how to read the rest of my results. I'll do that later at a more decent hour!

Thanks,
Laura Gonzalez

Maria Corral (Widow of Diego de San Martin) marriage to Antonio Gutierrez.

Hi all Im hoping someone can help me with any info on the marriage of Maria Corral and Antonio Gutierrez. In the book "Encomenderos de la Nueva Espana" and in "Who's who of the Conquistadors" they are listed as a marriage and they had encomienda in Mizquihuala in the mid 1500's. Any leads or help will be appreciated. Gracias Jose Michel

DIEGO DE SAN MARTIN, MICHEL, ORDOÑEZ.......ALGUNOS DATOS

HOLA A TODOS

ME HE ENCONTRADO CON VARIOS POST DONDE SE HABLA DE NUESTROS ANCESTROS, HAY DATOS MUY INTERESANTES SOBRE QUIENES FUERON Y QUE HICIERON,PERO HAY UN LIMITE Y ALGUNOS DATOS POCO CLAROS, EL LIMITE AL QUE ME REFIERO ES QUE NO SABEMOS QUIENES SON LOS ANTEPASADOS DE DIEGO DE SAN MARTIN, QUIEN ES EL PRIMER ¨MICHEL¨EN LA NUEVA GALICIA.

NO ESTA CLARO DE DONDE VIENE, YA QUE SE DICE QUE HABLABA OTRA LENGUA AL PARECER PORTUGUES O ALGUN DIALECTO DEL NORTE DE ESPAÑA, PERO PODRIA IMAGINAR QUE EN AQUEL TIEMPO LA GENTE NO SABIA DIFERENCIAR DE UN DIALECTO A OTRO, BIEN PODRIA SER CATALAN, VASCO, GALLEGO, O PORTUGUES, AL MENOS ESO PARECE EN ESTE CASO YA QUE NO SABEMOS EN SI QUE LENGUA HABLABA, AUNQUE EN ALGUNOS LIBROS, LA MAYORIA DICE QUE ERA PORTUGUES.

SABEMOS CON QUIEN SE CASO Y LOS HIJOS QUE TUVO, MAS NO COMO Y CON QUIEN VINO EN LA CONQUISTA, ME REFIERO A SU FAMILIA, VINO CON SU ESPOSA E HIJOS O LLEGO EL PRIMERO, PORQUE DICEN QUE DIEGO DE SAN MARTIN MANDO TRAER DE ESPAÑA A SU HIJO ¨JUAN MICHEL¨

OTRA DUDA..... DE DONDE SALIO EL ¨MICHEL¨??

SE SABE QUE UNO DE SUS HIJOS ERA JUAN MICHEL (SIN HIJOS), EL OTRO CRISTOBAL ORDOÑES (DE QUIEN DESCENDEMOS) Y QUIEN LLAMO A UNO DE SUS HIJOS ¨JUAN MICHEL II¨EN HONOR A SU HERMANO.

PORQUE CRISTOBAL NO TIENE EL APELLIDO MICHEL?? TAMPOCO DE SAN MARTIN?

SU HERMANO JUAN QUIEN ERA MAYOR SI LLEVA EL MICHEL, QUIEN SE DICE QUE POSIBLEMENTE LO HEREDO POR SU MADRE ELVIRA ORDOÑEZ, PERO NO LO SABEMOS.

TODO ESTO VIENE A QUE HE ESTADO INVESTIGANDO UN POCO MAS ATRAS Y ENCONTRE ALGUNOS DATOS QUE ME DIERON UNA TEORIA.

HAY UNA LISTA DE PASAJEROS A LAS INDIAS EN DONDE VIAJARON 2 HERMANOS EL 23 DE AGOSTO DE 1510 A AMERICA, NO DICE EXACTAMENTE HACIA DONDE, PERO EN EL REGISTRO ESOS HERMANOS SE LLAMAN DIEGO MICHEL Y JUAN MICHEL.

EN 1510 ESPAÑA INICIA LA CONQUISTA EN MEXICO, POR LO QUE PODRIAN HABER LLEGADO AHI.

COINCIDE TAMBIEN QUE ESOS HERMANOS SE LLAMAN DIEGO Y JUAN,

DIEGO DE SAN MARTIN Y JUAN MICHEL PODRIAN HABER SIDO HERMANOS Y NO PADRE E HIJO Y QUIZA EL ¨DE SAN MARTIN¨ SE REFIERE A SU LUGAR DE NACIMIENTO, COMO SE USABA ANTES Y SERIA DIEGO MICHEL DE SAN MARTIN (DE UN LUGAR LLAMADO SAN MARTIN) TAL VEZ ASI LO APODABAN LOS ESPAÑOLES CON LOS QUE VENIA.

ESTA TEORIA ME VINO A LA CABEZA PORQUE EN LA LISTA DE FUNDADORES ESPAÑOLES DE GUADALAJARA APARECE UN JUAN MICHEL COMO PORTUGUES, OTRO JUAN MICHEL COMO MONTAÑES Y CRISTOBAL DE ORDOÑEZ COMO CASTELLANO......YO SUPONIA AL PRINCIPIO QUE UNO DE LOS DOS JUAN MICHEL ERA EL HIJO DE CRISTOBAL DE ORDOÑEZ Y FRANCISCA DE RIFARACHE ESQUIVEL, PERO ESE JUAN NACIO EN MEXICO, POR LO QUE NO SERIA NI PORTUGUES, NI MONTAÑES......

ASI QUE....EN ESA LISTA, QUIEN ES ESE JUAN MICHEL Y ADEMAS PORTUGUES??

ALGUIEN TIENE IDEA DE DONDE SALIO QUE JUAN MICHEL I ES HIJO DE DIEGO DE SAN MARTIN Y ELVIRA DE ORDOÑEZ?.......

SEGUN LOS DATOS DE ESOS PASAJEROS DIEGO Y JUAN MICHEL (DEL POBLADO ZALAMEA LA REAL EN LA PROVINCIA DE HUELVA EN ANDALUCIA QUE COLINDA CON PORTUGAL)

ERAN HIJOS DE UN TAL ¨DON MICHEL¨(DEL POBLADO DE ALLOZ EN NAVARRA QUE COLINDA CON FRANCIA) Y UNA TAL ¨MAYOR DE LEON¨, DE EXTREMADURA (COLINDA TAMBIEN CON PORTUGAL)

ESA ES MI TEORIA.

SI ALGUIEN ME PUEDE RESOLVER ESAS DUDAS ESTARIA MUY AGRADECIDO

Help w/ Document in 1776-77 Jalisco

Greetings everybody,

I am trying to figure out what pages 598-600 in the 'Padrones 1772-1773, 1784' are talking about... It is recording something to do with the 'curato' in San Cristobal de la Barranca, Jalisco and is stamped with a sello quarto, un quartillo. My 5th great-grandfather, Dn Bartholome, along with a few others, is named in two of the paragraphs and his signature appears 3 times. I do not know what role he and the others are playing, and I would appreciate if anyone could help me to understand the document.

This link is to page 599 of 879 in the 'Padrones 1772-1773, 1784' where he is first mentioned in the second paragraph:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18564-40115-21?cc=1874591&wc…

Thank you!
