Spanish Abbreviations Assistance

Hello, I am trying to decipher the difference in the following abbreviations, or if they actually mean the same thing just written differently?

I thought that might be it, but was not sure.

P.P. is definitely Padrinos in many of the records I've looked at. I suspect P.nos is also padrinos, but it would be helpful to see it in context.

Incidentally, some abbreviations I've often seen mistaken or un-noticed:
7bre = Septiembre (September used to be the 7th month, when the year began in March)
Some reseachers have mistaken the 7 for an F and concluded Febrero but it really is 7bre.
8bre = Octubre
9bre = Nobiembre
M (in the margin of the record) = Mujer, often the only clear indication of gender.
H (in the margin of the record) = Hombre ... frequently seen in christening records.

Hello Stuart, Thank you for your response. Here are the links for the three records I am looking at. All three have Bernardo Roman for the father and two have Ysavel Ortis and the last one has Ysavel Leogarda.

Yes, I'm convinced those are padrinos in all three records. The order is often important - scribes usually wrote the details in the same order each time. Also, the phrase "á quién(es) adbertí su(s) obligación(es) y parentesco espiritual" is also a clue that it's talking about the godparents and their obligations.

Hernandez family

Hello my name is Ernestina Hernandez Sierra. It has been awhile since I've worked on my family tree due to serious illness in the family. Currently I am researching the Hernandez family.

Your grandfather is José Ambrocio. Ambrocia is a female's name. Some men to do have names such as José María but your grandfather's baptismal record clearly has him as J. Ambrocio (José Ambrocio). https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18685-22578-52

La Ordeña is a ranch in Arandas, Jalisco which is next to San Diego de Alejandría where your grandfather was baptized. You can see a map of where it is located at http://mexico.pueblosamerica.com/mapas/la-ordena-7 and it is very close to the ranch Manuel Martínez Valadez http://mexico.pueblosamerica.com/mapas/manuel-martinez-valadez-agua-neg… . You can compare it with a map of Arandas that has larger ranches with small black squares and you can see the ranch Manuel Martínez Valadez in the top right close to the border of San Diego de Alejandría at http://iieg.gob.mx/contenido/GeografiaMedioAmbiente/Arandas_MBase2013.j…

La Ordeña means dairy farm but they also use it for a name in this case. Ordeñar means to extract milk and it most cases it is in reference to milking a cow.

Have you looked at all of the baptisms of the children of Juan Francisco Hernández and María Petra de la Torre? They might mention the grandparents as the padrinos in one of the baptismal records.

Unfortunately it looks like you are out of luck with finding an información matrimonial in Tepa or Arandas for Juan Francisco Hernández and María Petra de la Torre prior to April 1771 when they had their first child.

The only other option will be to find a dispensa for a great-great grandchild of Juan Francisco Hernández and María Petra de la Torre. There might be one because the following page shows Juan Francisco Hernández to be a son of Juan de Dios Hernández Gamiño Valdivia and of Juana Margarita Navarro Gaytán. A source is not cited so I don't know how reliable that information is. http://gw.geneanet.org/barbaybarba?lang=es;p=juan+francisco;n=hernandez…

Hello Tina,

The surname Hernández Gamiño is a compound surname. The patriarch of the Hernández Gamiño line can be read about at http://historiasyrecuerdosdeencarnaciondediaz.com/macias.html#num9

Juan de Dios Hernández Gamiño Valdivia is named that way because in México it is customary to use the paternal and the maternal surname. Hernández Gamiño is his compound paternal surname and Valdivia is his maternal surname (This is called the mother's maiden name in the U.S.).

There are two people in the Nueva Galicia DNA project that belong to that line and have the same Y-DNA. If you wanted to see if one of your close male relatives with the Hernández surname matches them then yes a Y-DNA37 test will show that.

I imagine you are still going to want to find documentation for that line and you need to find all of the Hernandez dispensas at http://www.guadalajaradispensas.com/ and http://guadalajaradispensas.tumblr.com/

A Google search at the second one is the easiest way to find the Hernandez dispensas. Copy and paste the following into Google.

Hi Armando,
Thanks for you reply. There is just so much to understand about Mexican genealogy and I have a lot to learn. I am attaching the baptism record for Jose Andres Hernandez Arias which shows his parents and grandparents along with his padrinos. I question whether the Juan Francisco
Hernandez and petrona de la Torre from Arandes are the Hernandez I am looking for because all the Hernandez's I have found to be related are from the Cerro Gordo and La Ordena, near San diego de Alejandria, Jalisco.

This is the baptism record for Andres Hernandez

Tina,

I guess this is where you learn that many times men would move away from their birth town to marry and they would live close the family of the wife. This is also where you learn that the names of towns have changed, haciendas have become towns, and jurisdictions have changed. Most of that happened after the independence of Mexico.

The digitized image of the baptism of José Andrés is at https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18562-43844-45

It shows that he was baptized in the town of Tepatitlán and born in the ranch or hacienda Cerro Gordo. It also shows that his grandparents were Juan Francisco Hernández and Petrona de la Torre. Petrona is the same as Petra.

Cerro Gordo was once part of Tepatitlán. It is now a town and it is now called San Ignacio Cerro Gordo.

Juan Francisco Hernández and Petra de la Torre baptized Juan de Dios 16 Aug 1790 in the town of Tepatitlán. He was born in San Antonio Cerro Gordo.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18574-67352-52

Juan Francisco Hernández and Petra María de la Torre were married 21 Feb 1770 in the town of Tepatitlán. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18570-64632-49

The marriage record shows that they were both from San Antonio Cerro Gordo.

The parents of Juan Francisco Hernández were Juan de Dios Hernández and Margarita Navarro.

Juan de Dios Hernández and Margarita Navarro were married 10 Jan 1741. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18570-64935-29

The marriage record states that Juan de Dios Hernández was from the jurisdiction of Michoacán. His parents were Joseph Hernández Gamiño and María Valdivia. That means that the parent of one of them was the second cousin of the other person.

Juan de Dios Hernández Valdivia was baptized 10 May 1716 in Atotonilco el Alto

Joseph Hernández Gamiño and María Valdivia were married 26 May 1704 in Tepatitlán.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18575-46970-41

The parents of Joseph Hernández Gamiño were Cristóbal Hernández Gamiño and María de Velasco.

Cristóbal Hernández Gamiño and María de Velasco were married 23 Feb 1653 in León, Guanajuato. León was at one time part of the jurisdiction of Michoacán.

Cristóbal Hernández Gamiño was the son of Domingo Hernández Gamiño and Juana Gómez de Espejo

Your Hernández line is the Hernández Gamiño line. I also descend from Cristóbal Hernández Gamiño and María de Velasco.

Saludos,
Armando

Hi Armando
Holy moly!! I searched and searched for Juan Francisco and Petra's marriage record to no avail. So thank you very much. Do you know of any stories related to this family. I did see a note that they were notorious for marrying within the family.

I saw on the one site you sent me that Cristobal Hernandez Gamino was born in Caceres Extramadura, Spain. It is ironic because I had just finished reading and article on this area in the AAA magazine.

Armando, is there a place that I can go to so that I can learn more about mexican geanology so that I can become more proficient in my research???

Comment

Tina,

All of the Spanish families would marry relatives in order to marry another person with Spanish ancestry. This allowed them to maintain a higher status in society than being a mestizo. Since there was a limited number of Spanish families to marry they ended up marrying second and third cousins sometimes. Out of the marriage records I provided you only one of them mentioned marrying a 2nd cousin once removed.

It was Domingo Hernández Gamiño that was born in Trujillo, Cáceres, Extremadura. It was not Cristóbal Hernández Gamiño. I had given you the site that states it. http://historiasyrecuerdosdeencarnaciondediaz.com/macias.html#num9

About 60% of our ancestors were born in Extremadura or Andalucía based on records of immigration and declarations by our ancestors. The Hernandez Gamiño line is positive for the western European markers P312 and L21.

This is the best place to learn about Mexican genealogy, especially for your ancestors. Most site will talk about something other than Jalisco. Post questions when you have them.

You could also try and find copies of Retoños de España at a university by using www.worldcat.org

Hi David,

I did a quick search on FamilySearch, I haven’t pulled any of the records, but here’s some little leads that might help you.

Juan Nicolas Mendoza was married to Maria Dorotea Serda, aka Maria Dorotea de Oballe (Ovalle). I haven't found their marriage nor parents, but I found baptism records for 6 possible children, between the years 1802 and 1819, in San Geronimo.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JMH6-WGM
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLVZ-R85
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NLV7-BYX

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JMHD-SXK
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NK71-D3R

You'll want to pull these records and check ranchos & padrinos.

Keep running searches using both "Maria Dorotea de la Serda" and "Maria Dorotea de Oballe." A prominent surname in Nueva Galicia is "Lopez de la Serda," so you might want to try running searches giving her the surname "Lopez."

Maria Bruna Gamez’s parents were Jose Simon Gamez and Maria Josefa de Ovalle. I found baptisms for a possible 7 children born between 1794 and 1815 in San Geronimo. Simon Gamez and Maria Josefa Ovalle appear with different combinations of names (Antonio Simon, Maria Simona, Maria de la Encarnacion) - these might not all be the same couple, but again, check the ranchos and the padrinos.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLVD-KKM
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLV8-12Q

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLV7-VRP
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLV7-24G

I'm surprised Salvador and Maria Bruna didn't require a dispensa, both having "Ovalle" in their lines. I've been digging through my lines in Morelia, Tlazazalca and Patzcuaro, Michoacan, and "Serda," "Mendoza" and "Ovalle" all appear frequently in the 1600s. Might be a good place to check next, once the trail runs dry in San Geronimo.

Hope that helps, and Happy Holidays!

Hola Raul,

Yo no he visto esos estudios y te podré comprobar que

Armando

Aygre

A death record (1798) says an infant died of "Aygre". What is that? Same as Aigre? What does it mean? The only two definitions I've found don't help me much. One is "Flujo impetuoso del mar".

Comments

Comment

Aigre is an old way of saying aire, air. "Darle a alguien un aire" (le dio un aire, me dio un aire, etc.) means that someone gets sick for being hit by cold air outside after being warm inside the house (like going out after taking a warm shower). I've heard it in the context of getting part of the face temporarily paralyzed. According to the RAE dictionary, the expression means to get a paralysis attack.

Aire means air or wind.

Interesting input. Thank you. The death happened to an infant of 19 months in April. Someone else I know thought it meant air as in bloating or gas - from severe indigestion. It is hard to imagine what they were thinking in those days, as they described what to them was perfectly understood. Any other ideas?

I would suggest she contact the migrant education program in California.  They work directly with many students across the state and might be able to put her in contact with families who have been affected by this type of situation. She can Google them and find their info. It is a national program.

Good luck!

Hi Joseph!

I hope that this email finds you well! Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to work on my ancestry...I've been busy helping family members who have been ill and getting older. I'm writing to you with the hope that you would be open to helping me reach out to our Nuestros Ranchos group and any other group, family, and friends.

My daughter, Monique is completing her Family and Child Psychology doctorate dissertation on the impact of children who have had a primary caregiver deported or detained. She needs to find families for this very important study to share their experiences. Is it possible to ask you for your assistance in sending the information out to Nuestros Ranchos email group? Her study participants have to be living in California; however, it's important to share this study with everyone.

With her permission, I've added her intro below and I'm attaching the flyers in Spanish and English with all the details. Participants are encouraged to call her directly to ensure confidentiality. She is fluent in English and Spanish:) What do you say... would you help me spread the word? Thank you in advance!

My name is Monique Gonzalez and I am a fifth year doctoral student from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco. I am currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, applying for my post-doctoral internship. I am in the process of working on my dissertation,

entitled: Stories of Separation: Impact of Detention and Deportation on Latino Children's Attachment Representations.

The purpose of my study is to shed light on the experiences and feelings of Latino children who are separated from their primary caregiver through detention and/or deportation. I will be conducting individual interviews with children throughout California.

Citizenship or immigration status of the children are not relevant and will not be asked, and children can speak either English or Spanish (or both).

Children must:

- Be of Latino/Hispanic descent

- Be between 9 to 12 years old

- Experienced the deportation or detention (in relation to deportation) of their primary caregiver within the last three years.

- Child must be separated from their caregiver at the time of interview.

Each participating family receives a $25 Visa Gift Card, and the child receives a gift of school supplies. I have attached two flyers, one in English and another in Spanish. If you know of a family with an eligible child, please feel free to forward them the attached flyer. Interested guardians can leave me a message with their contact information and I will call them back directly. OR if preferred, the family may provide you permission to forward their information to me; I am happy to get in touch with them. This is often easier and feels more comfortable for the families.

Your participation will not need to continue beyond this point. I believe this is a much needed area of research and your support is invaluable! The study is CONFIDENTIAL and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at CSPP-SF.

As you may all agree, this is an incredibly significant area of research that can provide families, advocates, and the psychological community a
deeper understanding of how to best support and provide culturally responsive interventions for these children. In my experience, thus far, it
truly helps when the family hears that you believe and trust in this study.

¡Muchísimas gracias!

Hello Raquel,

I haven´t researched Diego Ruíz Núñez but I have a guess that he may be a son of Pedro Ruíz de Velasco y Haro Navarrete born ca 1588 in Ayamonte, Spain and Anna Núñez Bohórquez also from Ayamonte, this couple married around 1615 and had the following documented children:

Pedro Ruíz de Haro y Velasco Navarrete b20-nov-1618 in Mexico City

Mencía Ruíz de Velasco y Haro born around 1630, she married Diego Hernández Gamiño y Gómez de Espejo circa 1650 (probably in León, Gto or Aguascalientes)

María Ruíz de Velasco Núñez who married Cristóbal Hernández Gamiño in León, Gto in 1653

Chronology fits very well because Diego Ruíz Núñez must have been born around 1620, marry Catalina Delgadillo around 1645 and then their son Diego Ruíz Núñez II could have been born around 1650 and marry Ana González de Hermosillo around 1675, so their first son Blas was baptized on feb, 6th 1676.
I think we will know soon if this hipothesis is correct or not.

The Genographic Project

The Genographic Project no hace la

Armando

Armando,

I can't understand Spanish very well, but what I can understand of your message below is that the FTDNA and Nat Geo results are different, but I thought that since both groups use the same lab, that you could instruct one or the other to share your DNA in order to get the results, no? You have to give your permission to share your DNA with other groups so they can run their tests for the other group.

I feel sad that I can't take advantage even of the discount for advanced tests since our disposable income for December was used up yesterday in furnace repairs that we need due to our snow and 20 degree weather.

From time to time I do get a notice from FTDNA that they have another match for me, but I find the website hard to maneuver, so I will have to ask the manager of my account to investigate for me. So far, they have been people who live in New Mexico where my mother's ancestors have lived for hundreds of years since our haplogroup is C, Native American, Pre-Columbian (my mtDNA). I have only signed up for the basic mtDNA. I feel sad that I have not found a person to test for my father (he is deceased, no male siblings for me or my father, and no other known male relations of his). I keep looking for his surname (Olague) on the lists of people testing. I was told by someone in Mexico that all Olague descend from three brothers from Zacatecas who were in the Onate party.

Another interest I have in DNA is medical, since I had to have a kidney transplant and yet no one in my family history had ever had failed kidneys. What several female members of our family have in common are breast and ovarian cancers. I heard that testing for genetic strains so far gives false results. Still our family history has made us aware to encourage our younger females to have mammograms and PAP tests regularly.

Thanks again for all the info,

Emilie

Emilie,

FTDNA and Nat Geo results are different due to several factors. One is that
they use fewer SNP markers for the autosomal DNA. Another is that they
don't use STR markers for the Y-DNA. I'm not sure of the specifics for the
mtDNA. None of the Nat Geo tests allows for finding matches even after a
kit is transferred. When the Geno 2.0 results are transferred to
FamilyTreeDNA the Y-DNA SNPs haplogroup and the mtDNA haplogroup are
transferred. To find matches on the Y-DNA, autosomal DNA or mtDNA those
services have to be purchased separately but they get the DNA from the Geno
2.0 sample and reprocess it.

I understand your situation with the disposable income being used up for
home repairs. It happens to us all at different points in our life. Maybe
next year when there is another sale.

DNA testing still hasn't become very popular in Mexico like it is here.
Maybe in a few more years it becomes more popular and an Olague shows up.

Hola Armando,

Saludos,
Enrique

Dr. Gates mentioned he used three labs. Maybe there is a way to find out which ones he used. I think FTDNA lab has a place on their website to ask questions about their different tests.

Testing Native American DNA at the level described in this episode by
Carlos Bustamante of Stanford University is not available by any of the
three labs. This has been confirmed by Cece Moore the DNA consultant for
the show. The three labs that Dr. Gates mentioned are FamilyTreeDNA,
Ancestry.com, and 23andme.

The Stanford Lab that Carlos Bustamante runs is the one that published the
academic study DOI: 10.1126/science.1251688 that has been commented on here
at NR before at http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/22310 If I remember
correctly, there are two authors in that study that are from Jalisco,
Andrés Moreno Estrada and Héctor Rangel Villalobos.

In that article you can see the divisions of the different Native American
groups. They use a program called Admixture as well as PCA (principal
component analysis) as well as TreeMix to find the differences between the
populations.

At the end of the article it has the following information: Access to the
MCCAS data set may be obtained under the terms of a data transfer agreement
with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences; the contact
is S.J.L.. Individual-level genotypes for new data presented in this study
are available, through a data access agreement to respect the privacy of
the participants for the transfer of genetic data, by contacting C.D.B.,
A.M.-E., and INMEGEN (http://www.inmegen.gob.mx/).

Hopefully all three DNA companies take advantage of the offer. I would
really like for the bloggers of Dodecad, Eurogenes, and MDLP, and
Harrappaworld to also take advantage of it so they could add the
calculators to www.Gedmatch.com

Until then 23andme is the best one for ethnic identification but
FamilyTreeDNA has a larger database of Mexicans because they send kits to
Mexico whereas 23andme does not. FTDNA also does a much better job on the
Y-DNA side with matching, up-to-date SNP testing, and DNA projects one can
join. FTDNA also has mtDNA projects and matching that is also very useful
to us. The Y-DNA testing done by 23andme is 4 years behind and hasn't
announced plans to improve it. Also the trees at FTDNA are better than
23andme.

Armando

I would think the more information you want the more expensive the series of tests are.

No, the testing that Raquel was asking about is not currently available
through any of the DNA testing companies for any price. It's not a question
of price of why it isn't available. It's a lack of desire for
implementation up to this point.

Thank you for your responses. It sounds like our best option right now is
to encourage ftdna to expand their test offerings to include testing of
more distinct Native American groups, such as the testing shown on Finding
Your Roots.

Yes, the best option right now is to send messages to FTDNA to encourage
them to implement the data set from Carlos Bustamante's lab for the Native
American ancestry from Mexico. If anyone is able to contact Bennett
Greenspan directly then that would be even better. The more people they
hear from the better. One average we have about 32% Native American DNA and
a lot of people have more than that including those in my own family. That
is such a large amount for Mexicans that data set should not be ignored. I
would think that we are also a significant minority in the FTDNA database.
If we let our voice be heard then they should take action sooner than
later.

Razib Khan is the one that did myOrigins and he left out some Native
American tribes that he shouldn't have. It caused the Native American
ancestry to be split with what is now called East Asia - Northeast Asia. So
that amount should be added with the New World - Native American for the
true Native American/Amerindian/Mexican Indian amount that we have. This
can be proven with using the DIY Dodecad 2.1 Wrapper, the Admixture
calculators at Gedmatch, and testing with AncestryDNA, 23andme, or Geno
2.0. The only company or 3rd party calculator that severely under reports
or splits the Native American ancestry so much is FTDNA. That also needs to
be fixed.

Armando,

I e-mailed Dr. Greenspan when he first set up FTDNA, I forget what about now, but one thing I recall is that he said that the reason he started it was that he and other Jews wanted to know which class they belonged to, the highest being the priest class descending from Aaron, the brother of Moses. One Hispanic, a Catholic priest in New Mexico proved to be descended from one of that class, a hidden Jew in the New World. A former co-worker of mine, maiden name Cohen, told me her father was of the priest class, that he had been buried wearing a miter like popes wear. I will e-mail Mr. Greenspan and tell him of our concerns. Since I think you said that FTDNA is the only one sending kits to Mexico, he may already be interested in finding out how many Mexicans descend from hidden Jews that came to the New World, and what class they belong to.

Thanks for the info,

Hello Emilie,

I think that the reason the other DNA companies do not send kits to Mexico
is that Mexico won't allow the spit kits to be sent. The DNA collection
kits by Geno 2.0, AncestryDNA, and 23andme all consist of spitting into a
vial. I had called National Geographic at one time asking them why they
didn't ship to Mexico and they told me it was because Mexican customs
didn't allow it. The swabs that FTDNA uses seem to be allowed by the
Mexican customs to be sent there because there hasn't been any trouble with
multiple kits being sent there and returned.

What was stated to be proven might not actually be the case. That
conclusion was reached when Y-DNA testing was brand new and a lot of
assumptions were made with the limited data and testing that existed at the
time. There are a lot of things being learned with the BigY SNP testing,
FullGenomes testing and ancient DNA testing and a lot more will be learned
in the next 10 years. FTDNA also plans on releasing an SNP-pack for Y-DNA
testing. That will also help with a better resolution of the Y-DNA
phylogenetic tree.

I made a mistake about the Geno 2.0 kit. It also uses cotton swabs. It is
only AncestryDNA and 23andme that uses a spit kit. I had to go dig up a kit
that my wife had used 2 years ago and the instructions were in it that
mentioned the cotton swabs. The package is even larger than the AncestryDNA
and 23andme packages which threw me off. Enrique corrected me that Geno 2.0
does send kits to Mexico. The service rep at Nat Geo that I spoke to over
the phone must not have known that the kit can actually be sent to Mexico.

Nuestro Rancho's search

For the past two weeks I have been putting names in the search field in an attempt to retrieve old postings that I want to update with my latest research. What pops up is "ERROR".

Comments

Comment

The search function is half-functional again. Please note that the website has been experiencing some serious technical issues for the last three weeks as our web server provider upgraded the operating system on the server and the software running our website is not compatible. We will be rebuilding the website early tomorrow morning which should resolve many of these issues.

Nuevo or New Tag

Hello,

Question, I noticed that when I post a new topic never comes up with the Tag "New" or "Nuevo". How do you make your post to come up with this tag?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Chavez y Banuelos (Tlaltenango)

Hola,

Comments

Comment

i know i've came accross a document linking bernarda, but i can't remember where at the moment. i think this doucment said she had a sister name josefa.

Comment

Hi Katy,

Please let me know if you are able to find the document. The only thing that I have as a possibility is that Bernarda had a brother called Diego de Banuelos. He was the godfather to one of Bernarda's children (Juana Vela baptized on 26 Oct 1661).

Thank you so much for the clue

susana

Comment

yeah i wonder if that diego banuelos is the same one who married maria benavides.
while i haven't found that record yet, i've also found a document linking josefa chavez and maria (clara) chavez as sisters(maria might have also went by the name clara. if so then there's a brother named juan, and their dad may have also went by the names juan and leonor).

Comment

Katy,

This is what I have (all of them with documented source):

Capitan Juan de Chavez y Banuelos married Ysabel Soto y Almeida

Children:

Josepha de Chavez y Banuelos married to Joseph Sanchez Castellanos

(then I have the document to link Josepha y Maria as sisters and daughters of Juan and Ysabel)

ON OTHER SIDE WITHOUT ABLE TO LINK THEM

Bernarda de Banuelos (Maybe Chavez y Banuelos) married to Thomas de Vela
Maybe with a brother Diego de Banuelos who was a godfather of one of the children with Phelipa Delgado. I don't know if Phelipa Delgado was his wife or not.

In my next post I will be posting all the sources for the family Juan de Chavez y Banuelos with just 3 of the children. (josepha, Pedro y Maria) Maybe you have another one.

Thank you for all the information

If it's Pedro de Chávez it may be Chávez Fregoso. Is it really Tejada or Tejeda? Tejeda would sure spark my interest in descending from "el Solar de Tejada"

I figured, Tejada is a very old and illustrious line. They descend directly from the Kings of Navarra. Several lines in Mexico have been located, studied and proved before the appropriate authorities. Families like Ruiz de Tejada, Lerdo de Tejada, Moreno de Tejada, Sánchez Leñero, García Sancho among others of whom I have studied thoroughly.

Saludos,
Daniel

Hi Ronnie,
The parents of Joseph Cristobal de Chavez are Pedro de Chavez Fragoso and Margarita Gonzalez Bermejo. The parents of Maria Catarina de Tejada are Antonio de Tejeda (de los Monteros) and Anna Gonzalez Bermejo.
Antonio de Tejeda (de los Monteros) married Anna Gonzalez Bermejo in Teocaltiche on 28 Feb 1734:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-19052-57503-5?cc=1874591&wc=…
The marriage shows Antonio de Tejeda to be the son of Francisco de Tejeda de los Monteros and Maria Perez Gallo. Anna Gonzalez Bermejo is the daughter of Diego Gonzalez Bermejo and Andrea Lopez de Nava.

I hope a lot of people take advantage of the sale. If anyone gets a coupon
for a Y-DNA test that they don't need and are willing to share please email
me. I have some relatives from the region of our study that would like to
purchase a Y-DNA test.

Thank you,

Antonio Tabares

matrimonio: 28 noviembre 1573
Santa Maria De Los Lagos,Lagos De Moreno,Jalisco,Mexico

padre: Pedro Tabares

madre: Anna Rodriguez

-Daniel MdC
