These forum posts are from the old “Ranchos Archives” which was part of a Yahoo Groups system that operated between 2003-2006. This was a hybrid of electronic mailing lists and internet message boards. The files are “Read Only” and many of the users of the Yahoo Groups are not part of the new NuestrosRanchos membership, so keep this in mind when viewing these message posts and replies.

Pedigree Resource File

I just submitted my privatized .gedcom to the www.familysearch.org
site as a Pedigree Resource File submission. Has anyone on the list
done this before? So how does this work? Does every single name in the
.gedcom get put in so that the search engine will pull it up by surname?

just as an example here is some of their listings:

6. Angela Castreje Diaz - Pedigree Resource File
Gender: F Birth/Christening: Argentina
7. Ana Jova Diaz - Pedigree Resource File
Gender: F Birth/Christening: 17 Sep 1923 Bustinza, Pcia.Santa Fe,
Argentina
8. Antonia DÍAZ - Pedigree Resource File
Gender: F Birth/Christening: Argentina

how is it that the brief info following the name comes into the search
engine results? Is it that the search engine picks out the exact
wording in the .gedcom including the place of birth and puts it into
the results? . . .as in the above example?

thanks,

joseph

I am not related to this man. However, I would be interested in anyone who
may be related to the Roman or Alejandre family from La Barca, Jalisco or
Guadalajara, Jalisco. My family records go back to the 1800s. Thanks,

Nochistlan

Joseph,

Although I am from that region I do not have anyone with that name, as far as I know in my ancestry. Sorry I am of no help to this gentleman.

Hola,

Me intriga
tu comentario que el nombre Don Lucas no habra existido en
Nochistlan antes de 1750.  Tienes algun documento que indique el origen

Happy New Year Joseph and all ranchos MEMBERS,

JOSEPH, MIL GRACIAS POR TU AYUDA!
I JUST GOT BACK FROM SAN ANTONIO WHERE I VISITED BORDERLAND BOOKSTORE AND PURCHASED JOHN SCHMAL AND DONNA MORALES BOOK.  IT WAS ON A SUNDAY AND THE STORE WAS CLOSED BUT, AS I LOOKED INTO THE STORE A VERY GRACIOUS GENTLEMAN OPENED THE DOOR FOR ME AND ALLOWED ME TO BROWSE THRU HIS WONDERFUL STORE.  HE WAS THERE DOING INVENTORY AND CLEANING UP AND STILL HE TENDED TO MY NEEDS AND, FOUND THE BOOK I WAS NEEDING FOR MY RESEARCH.  I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO READ MY BOOK BUT IF YOU EVER GO TO SAN ANTONIO VISIT THE STORE OR GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AND BY ALL MEANS VISIT SAN ANTONIO FOR CHRISTMAS.  IT IS A TRUE JOY TO SEE OUR WONDERFUL HISPANIC TRADITIONS CARRIED ON AND THE RIVERWALK IN ALL IT'S SPLENDOR OF HOLIDAY LIGHTS.       YOLANDA
