Found something here. It is the defunto of "Capitan Don Ignacio Martinez De Murguia" where he was 56 years old, passed away from hidropecia. Left his money to be divided up into the poor. He passed away at "La Hacienda De San Antonio De Padua" under the jurisidiction of our village "Huejuquilla El Alto" in Jalisco Mexico in 1814.

I am not sure what else it says about "esposa?"

Hello... I am new to site and am starting to do some serious research on my lineage. To start I just wanted to know if there are any fellow relatives or paisanos from the Union de San Antonio area (Tlacuitapan, San Jose de los Reynoso, San Julian, San Miguel el Alto etc.,).

The surnames in my extended family are Marquez, Martin, Martinez, Martin del Campo, Ramirez, Munoz. If we include in-laws then we can add Reynoso, Loza, Alaniz & Lopez.

You can call me Daniel. Genealogy has always been a passion and it requires dedication, each link with a document. Everything carefully cited and documented. People call me annoying, but truly it is an art. If organization is annoying people won't make it far in research. Being meticulous is key in this field. Keep in mind, that people traveled a lot during colonial times. It can be as exaggerated as your Madera coming from Mexico City, do not be surprised. I have one line from Puebla who Agustin Ruiz de Velasco y Puga Villanueva traveled all the way to Puebla just to marry his second cousin on his maternal side and to bring his wife back to Guadalajara and that is where they settled, he being from Ayotlan. If I never had familysearch, I would have never guessed they married in Puebla. Who would have thought! I have not done much research in Huejuquilla, which is on the extreme north end of Jalisco bordering Zacatecas, but it is obvious you knew that. I am finding Don Fernando de Arguelles interesting, so I saved a copy. I believe there may be a connection with Arguelles y Miranda, so I will archive it, until I decide or find more information later to pursue it. You will learn this, saving pieces of the puzzle now and later putting it together will be a godsend. I know the Juan de Arguelles y Miranda, who was secretary of the Viceroy had many nephews, so Zacatecas being so close, exists a possibility. Now I have to ask more questions and find documents.

For those of you doing research into the Mendoza Surname this is the information that I have come across in my research:

Salvador Mendoza - Bruna Gomez (GGGGrandfather Salvador born 1820's?)
Encarnacion Mendoza - Romana Cedillo (GGGrandfather Encarnacion born 1840's?)
Zenon Cedillo Mendoza - Rosa Ramirez (GGrandfather Zenon born 1860's?)
Ruperto Mendoza - Tomasa Hernandez (Grandfather Ruperto born 1890's)

I do not know where Salvador Mendoza was born but do know that the rest of my grandfathers were born in the Jalisco area. Hope this information might help someone doing research. I also have images of the names as they are related should you need them. Thanks

The results of my Ancestry DNA are at a standstill pause, while I have been matched with several other that had their DNA done, their responses have been rather negative. My question, can the Ancestry DNA results be universally shared and compared with the results from other testing entities such as NuestrosRanchos tests. One of my matches came from one that has ancestors with the de Leon surname from Encarnacion Jalisco, however, he/she did not go any further and I could not access his/her private family tree. Is there a DNA forum within NuestrosRanchos?

I have been moving along the archive of defuntos of Huejuquilla and San Antonio De Padua looking for the defunto of my great great great great grandfather Francisco Madera who is the husband of Maria de Guizar and the father of Juan Benancio Madera (1762).

I arrived to the year 1810 and by curiousity I ran across this document of defunto of 14 cuerpos que murieron en "La Guerra" and of Hacienda San Antonio?

[Luiz is aka Jossef Luiz de URCUA; Luiz Jossef VRSUA, VRZUA, HORZUA, etc.]

Luiz' known siblings: Maximiliana Antonia, 1715; Olaya, 1716; Maria, 1719; Monica Barbara, 1722; Ma. Antonia Cornelia, 1729; Lorenzo Joaquin, 1737. A tentative sibling: Maria de San Juan, wife of Francisco ROMO-DE VIVAR.

His first marriage: to Maria Raphaela Rita PONSE De Alba, mulata, hija legitima de Nicolas PONZE y Lorenza DE ALBA. 20 Apr 1750, La Asuncion, Ags, Ags, 5 known children

His second marriage: to Maria Seledonia de los Dolores MASIAS Gonsales, española, originaria y vecina de Ags en la Hacienda de San Bartolome, hija legitima de Christobal MASIAS Gomes y Gertrudis GONSALES. 6 Sep 1758, La Asuncion, Ags, Ags, 9 known children.

I've found over 15 ways that URSUA is spelled in the IGI, which makes this family extremely difficult to track, as anyone with URSUA in their lines already knows. Any help with Luiz would be very much appreciated.

The proof that she is the sister of Juan Benancio Madera, here is the baptismo of Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera, "Espanol" with the same parents of Francisco Madera and Maria Guizar in 1762:

Here is another one of interest. Seems that this person is originally from Los Reynos De Castilla" But he passed away in our village of Huejuquilla, Jalisco, Mexico in the year 1802 and he was single, 37 years old and seems to have left un "testamento"

Saw this page in the defunto archives of the year 1780 and may give clue as to where the cemetary was at that time with this comment written:

"Razon de las personas que se mueren y entierren en el pueblo de la soledad filia de esta Parroquia"

La Soledad is a ranch I think. Could be the place where it is at.

Hi everyone,

I ran across this document called, "Hacientos De Hermanos Cofrades" for the year 1802 of our village. Is it a Fraternity of Cofrades Club? My Great Great Great Grandfather Juan Benancio Madera is listed there and it looks like he paid 2 pesos. He was 40 years old in 1802 since he was born in 1762 at Rancho De Los Maderas which is nearby.

Now there is a "Cofradia" right at community of village and number of ranches and nearby haciendas.

Today that Cofradia still exists but it is a ranch called, "La Cofradia" There is also an archive called, "La Cofradia" dated 1632 - 1700 which I already browsed some of it.

Here is a copy of the document "Hacientos De Hermanos Cofrades" which lists 4 pages of people and they all paid money. My Great Great Great Grandfather Juan Benancio Madera is listed on the first page:

I am researching the Torres/Pasillas/Amaro/Hernandez families from the area of Valparaiso, Zac, and specifically from Hacienda el Mirador, Zac.

Are there any good histories, in English or Spanish, of the hacienda system in that region? It is my understanding that these haciendas emerged around 1850. Were the ranch hands in the area before that or did they emigrate to the haciendas from other regions?
