the entry i'm talking about is for dominga acosta & juana maria ulloa. i think juana maria ulloa is a sister of one of my ancestors named isbael ulloa. i was able to connect juana maria to maria josefa ulloa in a marriage dispensation, and maria josefa to juan in another, and juan to isabel in another.

I am researching ancestors from Zacatecas and have found several documents from FamilySearch.org. I am stuck on one particular line on my grandmother's side.
If you have any of these people in your family tree, could you please reply to me? And if you do not, but have research tips, could you please reply as well? I am very curious to trace back further generations on this line.

I am having difficulty finding death records for everyone in the above line except for my great-grandparents who migrated back and forth from Tijuana to the USA in the 1900s. I am also having difficulty finding records from this time, and I do not know what area in Tijuana they lived in.
I would also like to discover any brothers that the Maria Lopez sisters may have had and other siblings of Jose Cruz Lopez.
Some of the church records are missing in the FamilySearch.org online records, such as La Calera 1872 for Francisca Rodriguez Perez and in Jerez 1865 for Jose Cruz Lopez.

The May issue features Cesar Chavez and a series of articles revealing the impact that Chavez' life has made in the United States. At a meeting of the Society of Hispanic Historical and Ancestral Research, Judge Rick Aguirre, and his wife Linda, who is related to Cesar Chavez, shared the facts of Cesar's family. They were pioneers, early Arizona US Government Land Grant recipients. Most Americans would assume that Cesar was an immigrant field worker. I did. Their family history research changed my perspective.
More and more historians, educators, and family history researchers are uncovering facts that are changing their personal perspectives. Two weeks ago, I did a presentation on writing your family history at a large Family History Fair (about 25 instructors). The theme was "Beyond Genealogy." Querying those in attendance, all expressed a desire to share with their children and grandchildren to increase understanding and respect for their own families, to discover inherent strengths and talents.
Building a base of family stories will help us prepare and encourage us in the effort to bring about a National Museum of the American Latino.

My family's oral history includes an ancestor who came from France to fight in the French Intervention of Mexico, most likely the Batalla de Pueblo.
Who knows how I can find rosters of any type for French soldiers in the First and Second Interventions? I can only find rosters of Mexican soldiers for that time.

My sister qualified for DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution ) through several lines. Last summer I discovered she qualified through her Spanish line.
Every American learns that the French saved Washington's army in the north. But Spain was also in the war against the British, and Spanish Louisiana struck from the south.
In about 1777 Spain recruited yeoman settler/militiamen and their families to settle some of the thinnest colonies. In my case these were from the Canaries and were called Los Islenos. Shiploads were dispatched to Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Texas, Argentina, and some other colonies. Recruits were given land, tools, guns, and a stipend. If you were over 5' 2" you got the premium package.
Galvez combined his home force, The Louisiana Regiment of Infantry, with Isleno militia, other colonial forces, regular troops from Cuba, and an impressive collection of shipping. He drove north from New Orleans pushing the British out of Baton Rouge and St. Louis. Moving east he defeated forces at Mobil then lay siege to the 9,000 man redcoat force at Pensacola, defeating them.
Further, Spanish ports were open to service American privateers, and the Spanish fleet forced the British navy to dilute their efforts in the Revolution.
So if one can prove up an ancestor who served with Galvez, DAR status might follow. This could also mean that a Mexican colonial soldier, speaking only Spanish, gets listed as an American patriot!

Nineteen kilometers from San Juan de los Lagos, where the second most frequented sanctuary in Mexico is located, archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), unravel a piece of pre Hispanic past which is today known as Los Altos de Jalisco, by the excavation of an ancient ceremonial center known as Teocaltitan.
At least 23 architectonic structures that were built 1500 years ago, between 450 and 900 AD, are distributed in the 20 acres that make up the highest part of the Teocaltitan hill.
To archaeologist Marisol Montejano Esquivias, director of the project, what makes this job in Teocaltitan the most gratifying is that it represents a preserved space in an archaeological context.”
“The interesting thing about Teocaltitan, apart from having Teotihuacan influence, is that it has elements that are very characteristic of the region such as the square architecture, sunken gardens in U-shape, pyramids with closed gardens, ball game courts, etc.”
The first drills and excavations that will be made in 2014 in Platform A of Teocaltitan, are focused on proving that these structures were made solely by men, and that underneath this they can find other archaeological substructures.
After two seasons there have been interventions on the west and north side of the ball court. It is from this area where most materials recovered from the project were found, such as: figurines, stone and turquoise beads that provided for the rituals that happened in this space.
Also, the finding of some copper and shell earrings in the northern part of the ball court indicated that this ceremonial center was used again during the Post Classic period (900 – 1200 AD). The earrings where found in the cranium of a presumably decapitated person.
Also, they have intervened in the sunken garden and the central pyramid that closes the site. In 2012, the center of the garden was excavated in an altar where they found secondary burials, bones that are not in an anatomic position meaning they where extracted from their original resting place and re-buried. This context also corresponds to the reoccupation of Teocaltitan in the Post Classic era.
With the restoration of the perimeter wall of the sunken garden and the ball court, the following year they will start opening the archaeological zone to the visitors.

My name is Sylvia Lottes and I live in Southern California. My father is 83 years old and only remembers his grandparents names. He never met them since my grandfather came to the US in the 1900s and wasn't able to travel back to Mexico until the early 1960s. My father is planning on visiting some of his cousins' families again this year when he goes to San Miguel El Alto (probably his last trip due to health reasons) but never remembers to ask anyone for family history.
I've been doing most of my research through ancestry.com for the last couple of years. I recently found FamilySearch and that has been so useful in looking at the actual records and finding grandparents' and parents' names.
In 2013, a young man reached out to me via ancestry.com because his grandfather was my dad's half-brother (shared same father). That side of the family did not know anything about the grandfather's parents so it's been pretty cool getting to know them and my father being able to tell them about their grandfather and great-grandfather. My newly found cousin is also trying to find out about our relatives.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this site and hope to learn more about my ancestors, where they came from and their culture.

1. In the Marriage of Ydelfonso she is called Catarina de Lara.
2. In the Confirmation of Ma. Guadalupe she is Catarina Lara.
3. In the Baptism of Macedonio the Godparents are listed as Esteban Frausto y Getrudis Lara.
Since they are named as Godparents to her child and she has been named Frausto and Lara; I am hoping to find that this Esteban Frausto & Getrudis Lara are her parents. Any information you have would be appreciated.
It appears to me that Leal was the civil judge. "El Juez de Estado Civil,
Jose Leal Cantu." Flores appeared before him to present his own child and
that of his wife, "que es hija legitima suya y de su esposa Virginia
Ovalle."

Someone had mentioned they were researching the Amaya's in Autlan--but I can't locate the post. In case anyone is interest: I have Bernarda Amaya (also spelled Amaia or Amalla) married to Juan Rosales-Mexia 14 oct, 1728 in Autlan. He died 24 Aug, 1737 in Ejutla and the entry mentions he was the owner of the Hacienda de El Limon. Their children were:
Maria Gertrudis who married Juan Francisco Garcia de Alba on 19 Feb., 1746 in Ejutla.Juan Francisco's parents were Manuel Garcia de Alba and Nicolasa Santa Ana.
Juan Antonio who married Anna Frafaela Comenares on 17 June, 1762 in Autlan
Juan Vicente who married Maria Josefa Cardenas on 7 Jan, 1767 in Ejutla.
Bernarda Amaya married Pedro Castill on 7 July, 1738 in Ejutla
Bernarda died 14 Jan. 1749 in Ejutla; aparently the result of an accident.
I suspect the parents of Bernarda Amaya may have been either:
Agustin Amaya and Nicolasa Caceres or Miguel Amaya and Elvira Caceres; but I haven't been able to prove anything and my hunch is based on the names of the padrinos of baptisms of the children. Deedra Corona

I'm unsure about who potentially may be my 4th and 5th Grandfather.
My third Grandfather Jose Roque Jacinto Gallegos was born in Las Moras, Calvillo, Aguascalientes on 16 Aug 1802. He married Maria Dionicia De Jesus Ybarra on 21 February 1821 in Calvillo, Aguascalientes. The baptism for Jose Roque Jacinto Gallegos shows the name of his parents as Miguel Gallegos y Maria Gertrudis Gonzales and his paternal grandparents as Miguel Gallegos y Maria Josefa Nieto (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11118-61099-56?cc=1410092&…)
I have done some additional research, but I'm not sure I have the right information.
So far, for my 4th Grandfather, I found a Miguel Rafael Gallegos born in El Estaño, Guanajuato, Mexico, on 14 February 1752 (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-20573-5471-27?cc=1860831&…). I found a record that shows that he married Maria Gertrudis Gonzales in Teocaltiche, Jalisco on 24 Feb 1774; however, I couldn't find the actual microfilm.
For my 5th Grandfather, I found a Miguel Dionicio Gallegos born in La Quemada, San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico on 17 Mar 1724 (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-20573-5677-90?cc=1860831&…). Juaquin Choperena y Victoriana Martinez were married on 16Sept1801.
I believe Juaquin was born in Navarra, Spain to Pedro Jose Choperena y Maria Bautista Yndart about 1771.
However, I'm having trouble figuring out the birthplace and parents of Victoriana.
Was she born in Spain or Juanacati? Was her father a 16-year old neighbor?
I'd appreciate any help.

Does anyone know of any books, websites, passenger ship records regarding Italians immigrating to Mexico say during the late 1500's to early 1800's? I've checked out the Archivos Espanoles En Red website: http://aer.mcu.es/sgae/index_aer.jsp to see if I could find my Italian ancestors who settled in Mexico, via Spain, but have come up with a big zero. I have a copy of the book " La Emigracion Castellana y Leonesa al Nuevo Mundo 1517-1700" by Maria del Carmen Martinez Martinez and nothing in there as well.
The surnames involved are Lomellin, Lomelli (Carlos Lomellini about 1600, children and grandchildren in Nochistlan, Zacatecas) and Durazzo around Hermosillo, San Miguel de Horcasitas, Sonora in the late 1700's to early 1800's.

Could anyone recommend an online site where I could house my tree with images and invite family to view? Also any software to organize? I have several trees online but I want to consolidate to one place. My recent experience with myheritage and ancestry.com isn't good. I canceled my ancestry subscription after several years and yesterday when to my shoebox only to find I can't access any of my saved files! On my heritage I cannot click through to see my actual saved files- this is with a subscription. I don't mind paying annually but would like to be able to make charts and books for some of my older relatives. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!
