Diego Romo de Vibar con Mariana de Villalobos

I am trying to figure out a relationship: the above-named couple certainly married, as proved by the baptismal records of three of their children (Beatríz, 1712, Teocaltiche; Sebastián, 1717, San Juan de los Lagos; and Monica Gertrudis, 1729, Jalostotitlán—and, yes, they seemed to move around a bit) and the marriages of two others (Ana Juliana m. Juan Joseph Pantaleon de Aceves in 1745 in Jalos; and María Margarita m. Xptovál Joseph Gomes Cornejo in 1741, also in Jalos). In each of these records—whether baptisms or marriages—the names of the parents are explicitly stated.

There is also a marriage record dated 14 January 1686 in Teocaltiche of Nicolás Romo de Vibar and Mariana de Villalobos. The parents of Nicolás are given as Diego Romo de Vibar and Luisa de los Anjeles, who I presume is María Luisa de los Ángeles Villalobos Castillo de Sandi; and the names of the parents of Mariana are given as Nicolás de Villalobos (ya defunto) and Teresa Carrillo.

My questions, then, are these: (1) how are the two women, both named Mariana de Villalobos, related, if at all; and (2) where does Diego Romo de Vibar fit into that family—in other words, are Diego and Nicolás related? I might be tempted to think that the two Marianas are the same person, except that a marriage in 1686 would mean that she would have had to have given birth to a child in 1729 in the 43rd year following her first marriage—an unlikely occurrence.

The line I am following is that of Diego and Mariana, named in the subject line. Any documented light that can be shed on these questions will be gratefully appreciated.

Sinceremente,
Lawrence Bouett

Map of Nuevo Espana (Mexico) 1650

Here is a picture of Nuevo Espana (Mexico) in the year 1650. What is helpful is the names of the different sections such as:

"Reino De La Nuevo Galicia" "Reino De La Nuevo Viscaya"
"Nuevo Reino De Leon" "Reino De La Nuevo Espana"

This is interesting as when I had been browsing through the baptism records and saw those names mentioned above and now know what it refers to:

Calvillo Marriage Records Oct/Nov 1777

Hello,
I couldn't locate the marriage records for Calvillo that took place from October to mid-November. It seems that pages 46 & 47, which correspond to these dates, are missing in the marriage book. The pages go from 45 to 48, and the Record Number from 192 to 200:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11613-122856-98?cc=1502404…

Has anyone come across these pages? If so please let me know as I'm looking for the wedding of Francisco Narciso Huerta & Remigia Gonzalez. Their marriage investigation was completed on 11 Oct 1777.

Thanks, Arturo

Records on FamilySearch

Is there any other place to look up records? we are directed to familysearch, and it use to be a great site I had been able to get info on that website but they have recently "updated" their system and now all you get is RECORD NOT FOUND I put in correct bith dates parents ect. it does not matter you get that message every time and I know its not just me, some how I accidentally stumbbled on their comment section. I went thru about 80 negative comments and only 2 positive ones.

Atemanica, Jalisco

Hi everyone, my name is Ruben Rojas,I am new to this site and this is my first post.I did research on this and came to a dead end. Does anyone know what Municipality Atemanica belonged to back in 1707. Today, I know it is part of Tequila, but what Church or Municipality did people go to back then if born in Atemanica. I am doing research on my 5th GreatGrand Father, Phelipe de Santiago Delgado. He was born around 1707. He married Ma Magdalena Castaneda in 1732 in Tlaltenango,Zac. His second marriage was to Ma Eugenia Carrillo in 1748 in Colotlan, Jal. His 3rd and final marriage was to my 5th GreatGrand Mother Juana Ynez Catano in 1757 in Totatiche, Jal. He died in Tlaltenango on Sept 18 1786. Three of the Catholic Church records I have say he originated from Atemanica. I researched familysearch.com in both Tequila and Magdalena Municipalities with no luck. I can't seem to find anyone else from Atemanica. Also, on familysearch.com Tequila has an error and is missing years 1698 to 1716 ( which is what I need). They have Bautisos 1684-1810, but its actually 1784-1810. I dont know where else to look. Any suggestions.
Thank You

Research Digest, Vol 64, Issue 17

Hello,
This is in response to Enrique (Message 6).
I was just working on our Brambila line today and found your information very informative. Especially about the name being italian--I had assumed they were Basque: Because of the Arriaga.

My research results is a little different from yours...but I'm new at this; but I've tried to cross-reference everything with at least 2 sources (baptism and marriage).

I have Augustin Brambila (b. 7 Sept., 1680 in Tecolotlan) married to Antonia Gonzales. I got this from the Marriages of their sons, Diego Brambila and Jose Juaquin; and Joaquin's baptism (1719).
I believe I found the parents: Joseph Brambila (Bap. 4 Aug. 1664 in San Miguel, Cocula) and his wife's name listed on Augustin's Baptism is Antonia Ybarra (but I haven't confirmed it with a marriage.

I believe I also found Joseph's parents (baptism record of Joseph); They are listed also as Joseph Brambila de Arriaga and his wife: Catalina Lomelin.
I have found 4 children Spelled all different ways because it seems the priests spelled phonetically and maybe people didn't always speak clearly.
The other children besides Joseph are Manuel (13 Jun 1663; Teocuitatlan de Corona, Jal.); Antonio (27 july, 1659;Teocuitatlan de Corona, Jal.); and Lorensa (11 Sept., 1661; Teocuitatlan de Corona, Jal.).

It seems the Brambila's have spread themselves throughout Jalisco---there are lots in Santa Rosalia and Autlan. My particular line descends from Juaquin through his son Andres Maria, and then Gregorio, then Jose Ygnacio Regino.

Please let me know if the information I have is wrong--as I said, I'm new at this; but it is definitely fun.

Thank you

VALDIVIA/ NAVARRO -- RAMON VALDIVIA + MA.

RAMON VALDIVIA (Baldibia) + MA. MARGARIATA MALDONADO (De Ornelas). Abt 1710/20

PEDRO NAVARRO + PETRONILA (Petrona/Petra)SOLIS abt 1720

Looking up original docs to match transcribed record - Barbosa 1712, Cocula Jal Mex

Ive started to look for the original documents for more details about my ancestors and occasionally can't seem to original referencing document.

Example: for the record for "Antto. Blas Barbossa Lyez" https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NBMD-54V (which I understand to be Antonio Blas Barbosa Lopez); I can't find the (18 Sep 1712) baptism record under the images:
+ Mexico, Jalisco, Catholic...Church Records, 1590-1979,
+ Cocula, San Miguel
+ Baptisms 1711-1738
+ Page 54 of 738 seems to be from 21 August 1712 to 18 Sep 1712, and Page 55 starts with 18 Sep 1712, but I dont see the referencing record.

Am I looking at this wrong?

Would someone like to have a go at reading a word in this document? (2nd try ...)

I can read all but the name of the town in this document; can someone fill in the missing word? "... Domingo Gerrero [Guerrero] español originario, y vesino de la siudad de __?__ del Reino de la Nueva España ...".

I should be most grateful. I'm not going to prejudice anyone by posting my guess as to what this name might be.

Best wishes,

Informacion matrimonial Tabasco (Mecatabasco) 1745 -1800

I have been looking for information related to the loeras of Ojocaliente in Calvillo. The oldests records available for loeras are located in Mecatabasco Zacatecas and all are baptisms. Many of the sons and daughters of Ricardo Loera and Barbara Gertrudis Lopez de Nava were baptized in mecatabasco and I was hoping that I could find the records for 1745 -1800 of Informacion Matrimonial but there aren't any available. I was also surprised to find mecatabasco records in the Calvillo Section.

Mexico, Aguascalientes, C...Church Records, 1620-1962 - Calvillo - Señor San José - Información matrimonial - 1748-1815

Does anybody know what happened to the missing Iformacion Matrimonial because that's where the marriage record of the loeras That I'm looking for could be.

where can i find guadalajara marriage dispensations for the year 1807?

you see, there are some couple's i found who got married in 1807 from the towns or colotlan, and huejucar who i think might be related to each other. the only way to prrove it for sure is to find a marriage dispensation for these couples. one couple i'm looking for in particular is placido flores and ana maria rivera.

Help with with a word? Were marriage "testigos" always male?

Hi, to everyone. Just a small question about a name. If someone can look at this marriage document: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18696-19142-66?cc=1874591&wc…

The last lines of the marriage record of Rodrigo Apodaca mention the "testigos"/witnesses. My question is regarding the last witness. Does it really say Antonia Apodaca? or is that line just something else and it says Antonio Apodaca. I have always seen males as testigos in older marriage records, but I am not sure if women were even allowed to act as witnesses. Then thing is that if that line says Antonio, it definitely refers to my 3rd greatgrandfather Antonio Apodaca, the groom's uncle. I'm just a little doubtful because there are some Antonia's Apodaca in that time period, too. What's your opinion?

DNA DAY PROMOTION 2013

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would let you know familytreedna.com is having a sale until
next Monday.

Juan

mtDNA DAY SALE $129 UPGRADE ANY mtDNA TO FULL SEQUENCE
FAMILYTREEDNA
HISTORY UNEARTHED DAILY •••••••• SPECIAL DNA DAY REDUCED PRICING ••••••••

In 2006, Family Tree DNA pioneered the use of mitochondrial (mtDNA) full
sequences to solve maternal genealogical puzzles and to produce the deepest
maternal haplogroups in the industry. At that time, only a few academic
researchers were using the power of the mtDNA full sequence for
anthropological studies.

Now 7 years later, all serious academic researchers use mtDNA full
sequences for their maternal lineage research. Several prestigious
institutions send their DNA samples to Family Tree DNA for complete mtDNA
sequencing.

Knowing that this testing level is the best value for genealogy, we have
preferred to see the mtDNA full sequencing used for all genealogical
purposes. However, limited lab capacity forced us to use pricing as a
mechanism to control the number of orders we receive. That’s about to
change!

We are proud to announce we have moved our Full Sequencing line from Sanger
DNA sequencing to what is called Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). This
gives us much greater capacity to process tests, to reduce costs without
sacrificing quality, and to ensure shorter turnaround times.

We must run the entire sequence every time we process an mtDNA full
sequence test, even for upgrades. However, in celebration of this advance-
and National DNA Day – we’re offering our lowest price ever for upgrades to
FMS.

For a limited time, whether you’ve tested HVR1 or HVR1+2, you’ll be able to
upgrade to the Full Sequence for just $129!

Rather than the 8-10 weeks first generation sequencing required, we expect
your results to be completed within 5-6 weeks. This does depend on the
number of orders received though. If their DNA is already at our lab, those
who order first may expect even shorter turnaround times.

By upgrading to the mtDNA Full Sequence, you can see your matches at the
highest resolution possible since this test sequences the entire mtDNA
genome. If you belong to a subclade of your haplogroup, you’ll see that
information, too. You also will be able to share your sample with the
academic community at www.mtdnacommunity.org (Sharing is voluntary-some
consider this a benefit!)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

Post facto notes on baptism records

Has anyone come across post facto notes recorded on baptism records, for instance, say, a note on the baptism record about a person's later marriage? I have noticed these a few times on German baptism records written in Latin for some Catholic churches and was wondering if this was a standard practice or simply a fluke.

Jaimes de Herrera and Barron families in Guanajuaro; Gonzalez and Montiel in Somberete

I am looking for any information, baptisms, marriages, etc. for Nicolas Jaimes de Herrera and Juana Barron, who had a son named Melchor Jaimes de Herrera circa 1666 at Guanajuato, Mexico. Melchor married Angela Gonzalez from Sombrerete in 1696 in New Mexico. Angela was the daughter of Antonio Gonzalez and Ignacia Montiel. She was also a widow of Francisco de Ayala, who was shot in Sombrerete. Angela was born circa 1671.

Gracias!

Joseph Miguel Campos/Martín del Campo casada con Antonia Manuela Péres—Poncitlán/Ocotlán, 1773

The line I am documenting goes through Joseph Ramón Campos, bap. 29 Apr 1779 in San Jacinto, Poncitlán, as were at least three of his siblings. In all cases, the names of the parents are similar: Dn. Migl. Campos, y de Dª María Manuela Peres (1774); Jph. Miguel Campos y da Anttª Peres (1779); Dn. José Migl. Campos y de Antª Francª Peres (1791); and Dn. Migl. Campos, y Dª Manuela Perez (1794). These baptisms took place at a time, unfortunately, when the abuelos are not named in the records.

Conveniently, also in Ocotlán, is this marriage: "... Dn Jph Migl. de Campos, Espl. de la jurisdicn. de Poncitlán h.l. de Dn Jph de Campos y dª francª Xabiera de Estrada con dª Antonia Manlª Peres esplª de Sta Clara h.l. de Dn Juº Manl. Peres y dª Rosa Mª fernandes deftos. ...".

Further complicating the search for proof of the parents of Joseph Ramón Campos is the fact that, in the subsequent baptisms of Joseph Ramón's children, the abuelos are named, but the names vary: Miguel Campos y Antonia Manuela Péres (1800); José Antonio Martín, y Antonia Ysidora (1801); Don Miguel Campos y de Doña Manuela Antonia Pérez (1804); José Antonio Martín del Campo y Antonia Ysidora Martín del Campo (1806); Don José Miguel Campos y de Doña Antonia Manuela Pérez (1808); Don Miguel Campos y de Doña Manuela Antonia Pérez (1810); José Miguel Campos y Dª Antonia Manuela Peres (1811); and José Miguel Campos y Antonia Pérez (1813).

Now, all of this is highly circumstantial evidence that the Joseph Miguel de Campos and Antonia Manuela Péres who married in Ocotlán in 1773 are the parents of 'my' Joseph Ramón Campos; but it is, still, circumstantial. The bit of evidence that confounds me the most at this point is the abuelo named José Antonio Martín in 1801; I say 'confounds' because (1) that is the only time the name 'Antonio' appears, (2) the apellido Martín is almost certainly Martín del Campo, from which, Campos derives, and (3) there is a documented baptism of Joseph Antonio Martín del Campo on 02 Apr 1733 in Jalos, son of Lázaro Martín del Camp y Tiscareño and María Felisiana Ximénes de Castro, and who, I had believed, may have been the father of 'my' Joseph Ramón, but which, I am now beginning seriously to doubt.

If anyone can shed any documented light on this puzzle, I should be most grateful.

Saludos,
Lawrence Bouett
