Hi Joseph,
The Hispanic Heritage Project has just started a project called “Fojas Perdidas.” We as researchers will come against a wall where the paper trail has come to an abrupt end where there are no records. Our quest is to find those records.
For those of us who are doing Hispanic research in Mexico, we use FamilySearch, which is our greatest source of information. We are eternally grateful for the work that the Utah Genealogy Society has done in microfilming the Catholic sacramental records as well as the Priest who diligently recorded that history. We likewise are indebted to FamilySearch in digitizing those records and continuing imaging more records and having access to those images online.
What most researchers are not aware of is that when the Utah Genealogy Society microfilmed the parish records, they filmed the copies that were kept in the diocese. As is the practice, the Church requires each parish to create two copies. One is kept at the parish and the other sent to the diocese archive. We have found that sometimes not all the copies made their way to the diocese and are still in the parishes not yet filmed or imaged. These are the missing records we shall find and image. In a few cases there were small parishes that were not filed at all. Our goal is to identify those fojas perdidas and work to get them online.
This requires a small pueblito. We have a volunteer camera operator to image the records, but we need volunteers to create tables of content of the images that are online. Then the camera operator can use it to identify the missing records so they can then be imaged and made available on FamilySearch. Since one of the areas we are looking into is Jalisco we are hoping maybe Nuestros Ranchos would join our effort. Give it some thought and if you think that is possible please give me a call.

while they kind of cress like huicholes, the image is titled ninos zacatecanos. i did some research, and i couldn't find out for sure what clothing zacatecanos wore exactly.

I am just finding out new information and just realized that Pedro De Huizar and Maria Magalena Navarette of Valparaiso had two sons that married into my Madera ancestors:

In 1760, Maria Leocadia De Huizar with Francisco Madera
In 1784, Justo De Huizar with Polonia Casilda Madera

Polonia Madera is the daughter of Lazaro Madera/Juana Micaela Perales. Lazaro Madera is the brother of Francisco Madera both of whom are in Rancho De Los Maderas at that time. Maria Leocadia de Huizar resided in Rancho Ximulco.

And in the census (Padrones) of 1828, Polonia Madera was 66 years old and also lists some of the people with "Huizar" surnames right under her name. This is from Rancho De Los Maderas:

So then Marcelo Madera, who is the son of Lazaro Madera/Juana Micaela Perales, is the brother of Polonia Madera. He is listed first on the list.

I have commonly seen the term "hijo de padres no conosidos" which I understand.

I occasionally see the term "hijo lejitimo digo de padres no connsidos." What does this mean? If the child is legitimate, why are the parents' names not given?

The records I am researching are baptisms of Indians in the 1800-1815 period. "Padres no conosidos" is very common, perhaps more than a third of the baptisms.

Petra Martin Chaves and Francisco Merquelin Chevarria and Juana Delgado y Valensuela.

Through information from Nuestros Ranchos I also have validation that when widowed Francisco Delgado married Juana Delgado y Valensuela in 1700 at Pinos, Zacatecas.

Found the matrimonio of the Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales in the year 1758, Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.

Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales are the "maternal" ggg grandparents of my grandfather "Antonio Madera Madera" since my paternal great grandparents are Calixto Madera De La Paz and Maria Clemencia Madera. So that makes Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales my gggg grandparents through side of Maria Clemencia Madera.

Lazaro Madera is the son of "Blas Madera and Theresa De Abila"

This is great because now I found another generation "Blas Madera" to keep backtracking.

In 1783 Lazaro Madera passed away from a lightening strike. His wife Juana Micaela Perales passed away at the age of 68 in 1804.

The son of Lazaro Madera is name Marcelo Madera and in the census of 1828 Marcelo Madera is first on the list as the owner of Rancho De Los Maderas.

I am still trying to find who the parents are of Francisco Madera. Francisco Madera is the paternal ggg grandfather of my grandfather Antonio Madera Madera. Francisco Madera and Maria Leocadia De Huizar are my Paternal gggg grandparents.

Muchas personas levantaron sus voces y sus armas como defensores de la libertad religiosa--guerreros de la fe, muchos dando sus vidas como mártires, por lo cual la Iglesia Católica ha canonizado 27 santos mexicanos, algunos alteños, como Santo Toribio Romo González, San Anacleto González Flores, San Miguel Gómez Loza. También otros alteños y alteñas están en proceso de beatificación, como la Madre Luisita de la Peña Navarro, por ejemplo.

Otros fueron conocidos por sus proezas militares o su coraje legendario en la batalla, como lo fue Victoriano Ramírez López, alias “El Catorce”. Comenzaré esta serie de Alteños Ilustres con él porque tenemos un parentesco más o menos cercano...El Catorce y mi abuelo Agustín López Salcido eran primos segundos, y compartimos el apellido López de los Reyes. Hace poco publiqué aquí en Nuestros Ranchos un reporte genealógico de 5 generaciones. Aquí estoy el mismo reporte hasta 7 generaciones completo con notas y fuentes. Así pueden copiar los datos y ver como están emparentados.

Díganme si carezco algún dato o hay algún error. Tiene que haber alguna cosita por allí que me falte...alguna conexión de parentesco que ignore. Agradezco sus comentarios.

Oh my God! This is shocking? What is a "Morifco or "Morisco" As I am trying to look up that information since this is the first time to see that word classified on one of my relatives from the past in 1758. Here is part of the copy of the matrimonio of Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales in 1758 and I put an arrow over that word:

I found this document of defunto on how Lazaro Madera passed away caused by a strike from lightening. It's common in our village that people out on their ranches get hit by lightening. Even to this day!

Who is Lazaro Madera? He is the father of Marcelo Madera (approx. 1774) who was listed as owner of Rancho De Los Maderas in a census of 1828 and here is the first page:

It looks as though you're looking for the surname De la Lus Ramirez, but it
appears as though De La Lus is part of the first name, Jose de la Lus,
Ramirez looks like the surname.

I found the defunto of the wife of my great great great great grandfather Francisco Madera. Her name is Maria Leocadia De Huizar, "Espanola" of Rancho Ximulco (Jimulco) She passed away in the year 1813 and she was 80 years old. Which then would mean she was born in 1733. Her husband Francisco Madera is the one that is from Rancho De Los Maderas but she is the one from Rancho Ximulco. See first pic. To prove to you she is the wife of Francisco Madera see second pic where Francisco Madera and Maria de Huizar had a son name Juan Venancio Madera, "Espanol" in Rancho De Los Maderas in 1762. Then third pic is where my great great great grandfather Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera had his son Patricio Madera in Rancho Ximulco in 1792.

This is great because now I can go back to the year when she was born in 1733 and look for her baptism record there. I am still trying to find the document when Francisco Madera passed away.

And the defunto of the sister of Patricio Madera by the name of "Dona Francisca Maderas, "Espanola" Rancho Ximulco who passed away at age 23 in 1808:

And here is the census of the year 1830 of Rancho Ximulco where it lists Patricio Madera at age 39. His wife was Tomasa Munoz.

But then later on Patricio Madera had another wife by the name of "Maria Dimas De La Paz that was born in 1819 who was 27 years younger than Patricio. My great grandfather Calixto Madera is the son of Patricio Madera and his second wife "Maria Dimas De La Paz" who is 27 years younger.

I am still trying to find the defunto record of my great great great great granfather Francisco Madera whose wife is Maria Leocadia De Huizar.

So I am trying to look in the matrimonios and my estimate of when they got married would be sometime before the year 1762 when then had a son name Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera, Espanol.

I started in the year 1752 and my curiousity is the drawing of a bird the author of matimonios book made. Trying to go into the mind of the author? Did he draw it based on a bird he has seen and where did he see it.

While researching my paternal side, I came across a list of over 20 men and it just says, "Le pasaron por las armas" I looked for a translation it appears that all these men were executed under a firing squad. It was around Jan 1812. Was this still during the Mexican War of Independence and can they be connected. Can anyone please shed some light.I included the link to image.

I have also heard the title "Corregidor" and wondering if this title was just another name for "Teniente de Justicia".

I saw this one on someone who is 23 years of age that was assalted, "taila una bala en la barriga" it happened in the Hacienda of San Antonio in 1811. He seemed to be from the Rancho De La Cienega. Can't tell what else the writing talks about:

In the 1679 Padron for Jalostotitlan/San Juan de los Lagos, there is a Francisco Robalcava and Isabel Avalos with three other names of (Manuel), Joseph, and Juan Robalcava. I assume these are their children. Also there is a Sebastian Mendoza and Mariana Quesada with the names of Maria de los Angeles, and (Juana Mendoza). Is this the same Manuel and Juana that some of us are looking for?

I am looking for the parents of Manuel Robalcava and Juana Mendoza. Someone posted that his parents are Matheo Robalcava and Cecelia de Ysla, but I can not find the proof. Can anyone help me with this line.
