Isidro Mercado

Can anyone help in locating -Isidro Mercado- this is what I know of him.
He is probably related to the Mercado's that married in to the Orendain family of Magdalena Jalisco and that happened to own the Hacienda de San Andres.
This I suspect because I found a brother and a sister Mercado married to a brother and a sister Orendain.

Maria Luiza Mercado Topete married Joaquin Orendain Camacho on dec. 20 1819 (they are the parents of Zenon Orendain Mercado) Im not sure if he was the owner of the hacienda or there is another Zenon Orendain born before him, what I do know is that one of Maria Luizas and Joaquin Orendain's children were born in the Hacienda.

Jose German Feliciano Mercado Topete married Dolores Orendain Camacho Aug 30 1835

I have a verbal account from his grandson Jose Mercado Avila who passed away last year at 94 yrs of age and this is what he told me:

That Isidro lived and worked in the Hacienda de San Andres, he was a labrador.
That he was married to a Maria Ramos.
That he had a son by the name of Ciro Mercado who was born in 1880 (Jose's father).

I have looked in all the towns surrounding Magdalena with no luck and the only thing
I have been able to find on his son Ciro is a 1930 census of Guadalajara, by that
time he was married to a Francisca Avila of Magdalena and had several children.
This is what the census states:
Francisca Avila-F- 40 yrs.
Nicandro- M-20 yrs.
Julia- F-18 yrs.
Salvador- M-15 yrs.
*Jose- M-13 yrs.
Pedro- M-10 yrs.
Arcadio- M-13 yrs.
Jose Maria- M-10 yrs.

Cristobal Lopez (Velarde?) y Teresa Perez: Francisco Romo (de Vibar?) y Juana Diaz (Montañes de Sandi) from Teocaltiche

Hello,

I have a question regarding the parents of my ancestors Joseph Antonio Lopez and Casimira Antonia Romo. They were married on 03 May 1758 in Teocaltiche Jalisco. Joseph Antonio Lopez is son of Cristobal Lopes and Teresa Peres, and Casimira Antonia Romo is daughter of Francisco Romo and Juana Diaz. I was looking through family search and I found two couples that seem to be my ancestors (parents of Casimria Romo) Francisco Romo and Juana Diaz. I found the baptism record of Lazaro Romo Diaz christenising on 26 Feb 1748 in Teocaltiche,Jalisco son of Francisco Romo and Juana Dias. Then I also found a baptism record of Antonia Leandra Romo Dias christenising on 06 Apr 1742 in El Sagrario, Aguascalientes,Mexico daughter of Francisco Xavier Romo de Vibar and Juana Dias Montañes de Sandi. I am wondering if Francisco Romo and Juana Dias are the same Francisco Xavier Romo de Vibar and Juana Dias Montañes de Sandi. Are any of you aware of this couple and know the names of their children? If so, do any of you know the ancestry of this Francisco Xavier Romo de Vibar and Juana Dias Montañes de Sandi? The dates line up.

I also found a dispensa in the Diocesis of Guadalajara of Cristobal Lopez Velarde and Teresa Perez from Teocaltiche on 05 Jan 1728. I am wondering if this couple are the parents of Joseph Antonio Lopez. The dates also line up.

Dispensa Cristobal Lopez Velarde and Teresa Perez:

Volumes 5, 6, and 7 of "Catálogo de pasajeros a Indias durante los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII" can be downloaded from Family Search. They are searchable pdf files.

Lope Ruis de Esparza is named in volume 7, in the year 1593. The entry is as follows:

Arturo Ramos posted an image (in 2007) of the actual document at http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/16295.

Volume 3 has also been digitized, but it cannot be downloaded. Volumes 1, 2 and 3 have also been microfilmed.

Saludos Edgar!

hoy no he encontrado tel documento.

Hinojos.
Buscaré los datos este fin de semana.

Hasta pronto,

Autosomal DNA testing

When responding to a Research Digest please change the subject line and
delete irrelevant messages in the body of the email, as I have done, or
simply start a new email and send it the email address you received it from
such as research......

That is great that you have tested more than one close family member. Many
people see very different results when they do that. The results still
should not be take literally for the reasons I mentioned in my previous
email.

Thank you,
Armando

Time period of FTDNA Family Finder

The time period of the FamilyTreeDNA myOrigins results can go back as far
10,000 years per a post at
http://dna-explained.com/2014/05/11/family-tree-dna-releases-myorigins/

National Geographic states that it can go back further. They use similar
equipment and the markers are compared with living people so it isn't a
case over one piece of equipment or technology over another. It has to do
with interpretation of the data

Iberians have 37% Northern European and 48% Mediterranean and 13% Southwest
Asian per National Geographic and they have the following to say about
Iberians: "This reference population is based on samples collected from
people native to Spain and Portugal. The 48% Mediterranean and 13%
Southwest Asian percentages reflect the strong influence of
agriculturalists from the Fertile Crescent in the Middle East, who arrived
here more than 8,000 years ago. The 37% Northern European component likely
comes from the pre-agricultural population of Europe—the earliest settlers,
who arrived more than 35,000 years ago during the Upper Paleolithic period.
Today, this component predominates in northern European populations, while
the Mediterranean component is more common in southern Europe."
https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/reference-populations/

Here is an assessment of DNA obtained from ancient remains of people that
had lived in the Mesolithic and the Neolithic. The Mesolithic are more
Northern European like and the Neolithic are more Mediterranean like. This
agrees with a portion of what FTDNA and National Geographic says about the
change between the Mesolithic and the Neolithic.
http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2012/10/assessment-of-ancient-european-dna…

This PCA plot that includes the ancient remains along with modern people is
really interesting also.

It's from
http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2013/12/europeans-neolithic-farmers-mesoli…

The time period for autosomal matches is about 5 generations but there have
been cases where people have found matches that were related from previous
generations.

we all seem to assume that we are descendant of Spain, but just like my DNA, it reveal that my blood line has a minor percentage of an Iberian marker and more with northern and eastern Europe and Eastern European Jewish, along with my native American marker. A number of my antepasados are listed as españoles or español natural, I wonder who amongst them was of jewish descent.

YDNA testing

Way back in 2003 I tested with Ancestry. That was a big mistake. They soon went out of business so the company was no help or use for research. Now that they've started up again I don't trust them. Once burned, twice shy. I won't use them again.

I had my brother tested in 2005, this time with FamilyTreeDNA. I have been very happy with the results, the support, the matching, and the opportunity to obtain more refined tests. I also had a cousin test with FamilyTreeDNA for my mother's father's YDNA.

I tested myself with 23andMe about a year ago and have been happy with the kind of results they test for. It is different than FamilyTreeDNA as they can give you medical information as well as matching opportunities.

My advice it to know what you want, know what you can get, then use the correct testing method to get the desired results.

thank you Armando, my DNA results are based on my mother sister DNA test, myself and my youngest sister. we all seem to reflect the basic findings I talked above. As to your question, whether I want to share my DNA, the answer is yes provided I am assured that by sharing you mean amongst other members who have had their DNA tested.

España ofrecerá nacionalidad a judíos sefardíes

Juana Dominguez (Married to Juan Macias Valadez, 12 Jun 1683 in
Aguascalientes) was daughter of Juan Hernandez and Ana Dominguez. Juana had at least 6 siblings. In the baptismal records of one of these, Ana is listed as Ana Domingues de los Inojos (Hinojos). I've not been able to locate Juan & Ana's marriage record, to find the names of the Juana's grandparents, so I've hit a road block. However, I found a potential couple: Pedro Alonso de los Inojos and Ana Domingues (died 14 August 1675). Could these be Ana's parents and thus Juana's grandparents? Any help will be appreciated.

Help regarding Bernabe Gonzalez (de la Cruz Bermejo?) and Salvadora Duran form Nochistlan, Zac m. 1692

Hello Everyone!

I have encountered a brick wall once again regarding my 8th-great-grandparents Bernabe Gonzalez and Salvadora Duran, but as I have gone more in depth in my research I have found many clues that have helped me get around it. I hope you guys can help me put the clues together and help break the brick wall.

Bernabe Gonzalez married Salvadora Duran on Jan 20, 1692 in Nochistlan,Zac,Mex.
I have found five children:

-Maria Gonzalez Christening Date: 08 Jan 1695 Nochisltan,Zac
-Juana Gonzalez Christening Date: 16 May 1698 Nochistlan,Zac
-Andres Gonzalez Christening Date: 23 Jan 1702 Nochistlan,Zac
-Ju. Anselmo Gonsales Christening Date: 19 Apr 1711 Nochistlan,Zac
-Phelipa De Santiago Gonsales Christening Date: 11 May 1713 Nochistlan,Zac (My 7th-great-grandmother) married Jose Antonio Ruiz Cortez from Valladolid (Morelia, Michoacan)on 09 Oct 1731 in Nochistlan,Zac.

I looked over all the baptism documents of their children hoping to find clues, which I think I succeeded. On Maria Gonzalez' babtism, her padrinos are Jacinto Ramírez de Rosales and Margarita Gonzalez. Then, on Ju. Anselmo Gonzalez' baptism, her padrinos are Cristobal Gonzalez and Josepha de Venavides. It seems to me that Bernabe Gonzalez is from the "de la Cruz Bermejo" family since Margarita Gonzalez and possibly Cristobal Gonzalez are Tomas Cruz and Catharina de Sandoval's children. I am only doubting Cristobal Gonzalez since the son of Tomas Cruz, Cristobal Cruz (Gonzalez) married Maria De La Rosa Duran, unless Josepha de Venavides was his first or second wife.

Anselmo's Baptism:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15280-5387-9?cc=1804458&wc=M…

Maria's Baptism:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15280-6066-29?cc=1804458&wc=…

Bernabe Gonzalez and Salvadora Duran's marriage godparents are listed as Gregorio Ramirez de Rosales and Antonia de la Cruz, who is also daughter of Tomas Cruz and Catharina de Sandoval.

Bernabe and Salvadora's Marriage:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15187-52620-25?cc=1804458&wc…

Now my question is whether Bernabe Gonzalez is also a son of Tomas Cruz, or nephew, since the padrinos of his children and his own marriage seem to be Tomas' children and therefore from the "de la Cruz Bermejo" family. Tomas Cruz' children are Juan Cruz,Margarita De La Cruz Gonzalez Bermejo,Visente Cruz and Antonia De La Cruz, but I did not find any Bernabe, unless he is their cousin. I am also wondering who Salvadora Duran's parents are. I already tried looking for their marriage in Informacion matrimonial but the year range is missing.

I would greatly appreciate your help!!

Thank you!

Subject: Meeting reminder and Agenda

Hello everybody,

Our next meeting is scheduled on Saturday, July 12 at 11:30 am at Casa Flores Restaurant in Stockton. If you have a laptop, please bring it. We will need it to do research in small groups.

We have a new website: www.nuevagalicia.org. Take a moment to look around and review our Bylaws,

If you would like to be removed from this distribution list, please reply back and let me know.

I apologize to those of you who wanted to join our last meeting via Hangouts. Casa Flores did not have the right type of connection for my I-Pad and I was unable to get that set up. I will attempt it at this next meeting with one of the laptops. Wish me luck!

I hope to see most of you at this next meeting.

marriage record translation in Calvillo, Aguascalientes

Would someone be able to translate a marriage record for me? I can pick out pieces of it, but don't know enough Spanish to translate the entire thing. I could not download it as it says that it is too big in size. It is on the familysearch.org website. In the browse records section for Senor San Jose, Calvillo, Aguascalientes. Matrimonios 1772-1813. page 126. The right top page for the marriage of Ygnacio Rodriguez and Maria Orencia Briceno.
Thank You!
Jessica

Dear Primos and Friends:

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful July 4th celebration. In keeping with the American Revolution, you will find a few articles on the importance of the Spanish horses on the history and development of the United States.

Yesterday, I had a telephone conversation with my Aunt Alicia. She lives in Stockton. I told her about an incident that occurred during a stay with my Tia Elia in Stockton. I was in 5th grade and cousin Albita in the 3rd grade. Every now and then, Abuelito would give us 5 cents for an after school treat. One Monday he gave each of us 25 cents. We were in heaven. We each decided to get a huge 5 scoop cone with our 25 cent.
Of course by the time we got home, the ice cream was running down our arms, clothes, and shoes, and most was lost on the sidewalk.

My Aunt Alicia asked if I learned anything and how long it took for me to get the message of the experience. I said, by the next day because Every day we walked past the same ice cream store, was a reminder. We were also back to an occasional 5 cents from Abuelito.

Abuelito was an educator in Mexico, a good teacher. He taught me to to plan ahead. The comments and personal observations found in histories of ancestors, current newspaper and magazine articles, can reveal character and teach principles.

You will read of numerous projects underway to record the Latino historic presence from a personal perspective. They are entitled:
Portraiture Now, The Media and Idea Lab, American and Latino Fund, the Latino Americans' Mi Historia project, and Smithsonian Journey Stories.

If we want our story told correctly, we need to tell them ourselves.
Write, record, or videotape, one story at a time, just start.

God bless America . . and our place in it.
Mimi
