Hispanic Surnames and Family History

This is a great reference book with probably the best Bibliography of
Genealogical books on specific surnames available in the world (just my
guess). The bibliography alone is 112 pages long.

the name of the book is:

"Hispanic Surnames and Family History"
by Lyman D. Platt, Ph.D.
1996 Genealogical Publishing Co., INC;
ISBN: 0-8063-1480-X

try doing an interlibrary loan on it. Or if you need I can do a specific
surname

look up in it and see if a book has been written about it.

Maria Francisca Marquez

I am not sure if it is the same family, but I have this information:

FRANCISCO XAVIER MARQUES DE LOS OLIVOS
Male
Parents:
Father: PHELIPE MARQUES DE LOS OLIVOS
  Mother: FRANCISCA XAVIERA SANCHES
Marriages:
  Spouse: MARIA NARCISA SANCHES
Marriage: 22 FEB 1751 Tlaltenango De Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas,
Mexico
Messages:
Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record. The
source records are usually arranged chronologically by the marriage
date.
Source Information:
Batch No.: Dates: Source Call No.:
 M607139 1704 - 1754 0443968

In the christening of her children Maria Narcisa Sanches is refered
to as Maria Narcisa Sanches Castellanos and Maria Sanches
Castellanos. Also I have seen Maria Castellanos, and I assumed that
it was perhaps the same person??? The couple did have a daughter
named Maria Francisca, but I have her married to a Jesus Robles, I
have to check my notes and see where I got that information.

Do you know if your Maria Francisca married

Maria Francisca Marquez

Angie, I know I'm late in getting back to you but I do have this marriage
record and Maria Francisca's parents were Francisco Xavier Marques married
to Ma. Castanes.

 Hey Carol,

Let me know if you find out who the parents are for Maria Francisca

Marquez. It is probably listed on her marriage to Juan Antonio
De

Casas.  I am interested in knowing if she is part of the Marquez

family that I am researching.

Thanks,

Angie

This too shall pass.............

My Intro Again ...

Hello Everyone,

I re-did all my family files in the files section. I found a
new "report" in my family program. I like it a lot better than the
report I was using before. It shows families from the bottom-up
instead of the top-down.

Take a look at the files when you get a chance. Here is the short
description of the files. (I didn't click the notify group of new
file option.)

1) Includes last names of Gaeta and Raigosa, plus Ayon, Campos,
Marques, Miramontes, Robles, Rodarte, and Romero.

2) Includes last names of Godina and Huizar, plus Avila and
Miramontes.

3) Includes last names of Huerta and Huizar, plus Ayon, Cardenas,
Castaneda, Correas, Gaeta, Miramontes, Robles, Rodriguez, Sandoval,
Serrano, and Perez.

4) Includes last names of Huizar and Cardenas, plus Avila, Campos,
Gaeta, Huerta, Miramontes, and Valdez.

5) Includes last names of Luna and Huizar, plus Campos, Faxias,
Huerta, Miramontes, Robles, and Segueda.

6) Includes last names of Miramontes and Gaeta

Prima Rosalinda. . .you are a wonderful addition to the group. . .and
pardon if I use you to shame some of those that haven't sent in their
intros or genealogies.

Welcome and I'm proud to find someone that shares the same sense of
great value at finding our "familia." Estamos hallando nuesta sangre.

We've had several new members join the group and I thought this message
should be reposted.

Welcome to the group all you new people. . .you know who you are. Please
do take some time to send us an introduction. Also a few words on the
surnames and geographical areas you're researching would be great. When
you are ready send me your Genealogy so I can post it to the
"non-public" Files section of the group.

PS: Congratulations to Rosalinda Ruiz for finding two new cousins in the
group since joining just a few days ago. She and I are kind of cousins
also since I'm a cousin to Angie Godina and she's a cousin to Angie
Godina. . .thus that's why I said "kind of."

Introduction

Hello all!

I want to introduce myself to your group. My name is Rosalinda Ruiz,
and I've been working on my family tree for some time. After
interviewing my grandparents about their ancestors, I never really
believed I would make any connections to more distant ancestors.
Then I discovered three things in the period of six months last year
(and this is truly inspirational for those who think discovering
their family genealogy may never happen). First, last April, I
visited www.rootsweb.com and typed in some family names. I had done
this periodically in the past, with no success. However, I decided
to try again, and I found a message that matched my BANUELOS family
information! The ancestor names and locations matched perfectly, so
I emailed the person mentioned. I found my second cousin once
removed! We shared information, and were finally able to meet last
summer. We also determined that we had met previously, in March of
last year, when I took a group of
