wrong Las Animas, sorry

Hola, Jose. I'm a new comer to Los Ranchos but not to the quest for family information. Your family name prompts me to share some of my findings with you on the chance that there may be a connection. I recently learned that my grandmother's name was/may be Maria Macias...and not Maria Garcia which is the name/person my mother Guadalupe (12/12/03), was searching for until the day she died. Grandmother Maria died prematurly 1906 (age 17) Por. Diaz Hospital/ Ciudad Chihuahua leaving Guadalupe in the care friends (Petra/Tomas Dominguez). Maria's husband had been pressed into military service by fed. gov. Maria Macias would die before he returned to reclaim his daughter Guadalupe..age2-3. When Petra/Tomas died, Guadalupe was "adopted" and taken away to the USA by foster grandparents Alejandra Castillo and Gaspar Flores whom I came to know as my grandparents. Guadalupe later married Leonardo Felix (Antonia Fernandez, Jerez, Zac/Trinidad Felix-Hermita Guadalupe, Zac.). Once in the USA

No, I don't know any
of the Macias or Ramirez families.  But these 2 last names are very
predominate in the history of Jerez.

Al; Thank you for your post about Jerez,
Zacatecas.  My grandparents are from there and I didn't know that it was
so close to Jalisco.  Do you have a contact with a Macias family member
in Jerez ?  I am a descendant of Francisco Macias and Leonarda Ramirez,
of Jerez, Zacatecas.

Sincerely,

Jose Luis Macias

When
we visited Jerez, Zacatecas, about 10 years ago, I noticed people would come
in bus loads from Santa Maria de los Angeles, Jalisco, to Jerez to do
their shopping on Saturdays.  Also, I met an elderly gentlemen that
lived in both Jerez and Santa Maria de los Angeles.

There may have been families from Santa Maria de los Angeles
that had family ties in Jerez, since Jerez was the largest city in the area
for many years. Who knows?

Regards,

This should be interesting to see where or if our families

Genealogy Humor

Here is some humor that I found in a message board. I
hope you get a laugh out of it like I did and realize
that all of our ancestors did this.

ANCESTORS GUIDE TO NAMING

  1) Thou shalt name your male children: James, John,
Joseph, Abel, Richard, Thomas or William.

  2) Thou shalt name your female children: Elizabeth,
Mary, Martha, Maria, Sarah, Ida, Virginia or Mae.

  3) Thou shalt leave NO trace of your female
children.

  4) Even after naming your children using the above

  5) Thou shalt not use any middle names on ANY legal

use only initials on legal documents.

My Genealogy

Hi Everyone!
I realize my introduction to the Ranchos Group is well overdue. My
name is Lourdes Rodriguez Jimenez. I have been researching my
ancestors off and on for a few years now but have dedicated much time
to my research over the last year. My family is from a ranch called
Las Animas (also known as Daniel Camarena) which is located
approximately 1-2 miles outside of Nochistlan, Zacatecas.

The surnames I am researching are as follows: Rodriguez, Jimenez,
Romo, Oropesa, Ramires, Ortega, Contreras, Martines, Borrayo,
Lomelin, Cervantes (Quesada), Melendres, Padilla, Donlucas, Nunon
(Nunez), Delgadillo, Quirarte, Prieto and Macias. I have not traced
any of my ancestors outside of Nochistlan, yet! My earliest data
dates back to the mid 1800s - late 1700s.

I was really exciting about finding this group and I truly look
forward to working with all of you, sharing ideas, tips and
information.

Sincerely,
Loulou
