if anyone has some extra time I need a volunteer to go through the
genealogies and see if any of the folders are empty. I found one that
was empty and am now wondering if any of the others are empty. Email me
privately if you want to do this.
Also if anyone would care to go through the links and check to make sure
none of the links are broken that would be a great help. While you are
at it I would greatly appreciate it if you would "COPY" and paste into
an email what all the links are. that way if Yahoo ever has a
catastrophe we'll be in a little better situation in rebuilding. Again
email me privately
thanks, joseph
Hi all! I just thought I'd write to ask who may be interested in a
Southern California or maybe even a Central California meeting.
Since I was so impressed with the Sacramento meeting, I would like
to arrange something similar, since I'm sure there are many members
who would like to meet in the Southern California region.
Please tell me the following:
1. Do you prefer a meeting in the Los Angeles area or Central
California, as
someone suggested in a previous message, so that
members in Northern California could meet us?
2. Is January or February the best month for you?
If I can get ideas as to timing and interest, I can then offer
choices.
Thanks!
Rosalinda
Ray; I too am interested about the Iniguiz line. One of my ancestors is an Iniguiz and I know so little about them. Where is Nueva Galicia ? My ancestor (Macias) are said to be from Galicia, in Spain. I presume that Nueva Galicia is in the new world but don't know where. With respect,Jose Macias

Yes, Joseph, it's something to celebrate----our ancient RNA/DNA calling to
us to find each other. Sure, I'd make capirotada, but I prefer posole to menudo since I don't like tripa---I prefer pork shoulder. I could skip the lengua and cabeza (eeww---mad cow disease). We are in Las Vegas, and at the first opportunity we found a good
Mexican restaurant, Diego's at the MGM. It was great--a guy made fresh guacamole at our table, and the food was so good. I had the green chile tamales (made from fresh corn) a Tesoro margarita (smooooth), chiles rellenos; my husband had tacos al carbon (garlic-lime marinated skirt steak, etc on a soft corn tortilla); three flavors of flan and coffee for dessert-----are you drooling, Joseph? I think after a few margaritas we could all do a passable Jarabe
Tapatio. Emilie

Francisco has been in communication with Mariano Gonzalez Leal and has
received permission to make copies of the book and send them to one
location in the US where they would be distributed to the indivduals
interested. I'm understanding that he is talking about the current
edition and that there is due out an update but I am not sure when.
If he is talking about the current edition how many of you would be
interested in a photocopied copy? Let me know so we can get an idea of
how much interest there is.
thanks,
joseph

The books cover the first Spanish settlers of Los Altos de Jalisco. Some families do extend to other states, so you might find some of your ancestry covered in one of the chapters. I have a copy of Tomo I which contains a "Plan general de la obra" for all the subsequent Tomos (II - VI) and has all the surnames covered. If anyone wants me to check for any surnames send me an e-mail. Each chapter begins with the first settlers and then traces their male descendancy. Sources are cited for every bit of data. I don't know. . .i would say it depends on how the book is formatted.

well you know how I am. So when you all have sorted things out a bit
more please give us a brief overview of who is related to who and how.
Shall we get go ahead and reserve the Mariachi's? Where is the
fiesta/baile going to be? You know we should not take it lightly when
various branches of a family have somehow lost each other for 100's of
years and suddenly now when no one remembers anyone in the other branch,
the branches find each other. its time to rejoice and be happy. Its like
finding a needle in a hay stack. . .it took two or more parties doing
very very hard and tedious genealogical research to make a very distant
connection and discover that the same blood the same DNA the same
familia is "common."
is someone going to make capidotada (Emilie)? or do we have to wait
until lent? how about some menudo. . .its almost New Years anyway we
don't only have it for New Years, we've gotten away from that and have
it whenever someone wants to make it. . .which normally
