Diego de Trevino

Is anyone related to Diego de Tervino? Born abt 1540 in Mexico City D.F.? I found a source that has his genealogy going back several hundreds of years. He descends from King Alfonso VI of Castilla.

There's a bunch of us here online who are descended to him. Where'd
you get your info and would you share the source online with us?
Thanks either way. Marge :)

That is one therory about DIego Trevino's genealogy. I have not seen any proof in print. Just because
someone says one thing does not necessarrily make it true.

Show me the proof.

In this group we are to do our own research from original records or from the proven microfilmed records of the AGN, Family History Center, etc., the records from the archives in Seville, etc. To simply add info found in books or suspect websites is not serious genealogy. I stopped falling for the claims of such enterprises. It would be nice to have a magic wand that would connect us to illustrious personages, but the reality is just hard work and hours spent reviewing the records ourselves.

No he encontrado evidencia para

A Bartolome Treviño adoptaron a mis
antepasados directos Teodoro y su hermana Gregoria. No he encontrado

Diego o a Beatriz.

I have to admit I hold some jealosy in that here in el norte, to see east Indian women in tradintional sari dress. They are proud of their heritage and still are trying to maintain their traditions. Perhaps its because for many they are a generation of new arrivals , and it may be in another generation, they will not be able to keep up the traditions.

Not that I want to go to the Mall in my sombrero, the climate here in the midwest gives us a 3 month summer. yet So much mexican culture has been set aside to fit in. I have to look hard to find a posada here, not as may quincineras, as before.. Perhaps its my perspective as I age ... or suppose this happens in each genreation and more so in a new country.
Please turn down the Reggeaton when you pull in my driveway ..

Hi David, I think its just when people arrive in the US, they want to Americanize, the dominant culture, eventhough the southwest and western US has very Spanish influence, the US was not prepared for the cession of Spain's and Mexico's territyorty hence why there are two leading cultures. A friend a long time ago thought Mexico was all about, "getting drunk, serapes, sombreros, tequila..etc." I have noticed times have changed, you dont find that many people wearing Serapes even in Mexico. I told him MExico is much complicated...just like any other country youll find different ethnic groups that have different traditions and customs. I quote my grandfather "If it's not made in Jalisco, it's not tequila" I remember when I lived in Jalisco for 8 months I used to wear the traditional clothes youll find, "Boots, sombrero. slacks.." I was only 7 or 8 -Daniel

My grandmother was kidnapped in Mexico during a Revolution. She was about 17.
I recently read an email from Nuestros Ranchos and someone mentioned a similar story but I must have deleted it. If anyone has any information as to the kidnapping's, please re-post.
Thank You,
Del

Not sure if its mine but on my mother's family hacienda when the Villistas came and took control they tried to kidnap my great grandmother she is still alive at 91, Sara del Camino y Soto. She was one of the most beautiful women or (donacella) on the hacienda, my grandfather (her nephew--crazy family intermarriage) said his father (her cousin) told him once she was a beautiful blonde, blue eyed young lady which was very desirable traits for a lot of men. -Daniel Camino

Who we are, etc.,etc.

I have read the many posts of the last couple weeks with much interest. I believe that many of you "opened up" and were most sincere in your personal moments/stories.

Admin Note: Use of three lists

Please keep in mind that the Research list
(research@nuestrosranchos.org) is for communication directly related to
our research in Jalisco, Zacatecas, and/or Aguascalientes

There is a lot more flexibility of discussion on the General list

There exists an option for going from individual email to digest email
so your inbox won't get flooded. You can also choose to go to "no mail"
if you want to follow the group discussion online. I would not suggest
"unsubscribing" from any of the lists because then you cannot reply to
any messages that might catch your interest.

The Who We Are thread seems to be appropriately contained on the
"General" list as well as the DNA thread. I'd suggest going to "Digest"
and let me know if you need help doing that.

thanks for bring the subject up. If the group strongly chimes in that
the discussion is inappropriate I'll gladly step in to enforce the
wishes of the many.

Casillas, Casiyas

I've just come across Casiyas as a form of Casillas (which is also treated
as a distinct surname by FamilySearch).

For several years the program familysearch, before the name 'pnes an
asterisk and leaving all the variants were also used for all other variants
but they removed the last update

Placencia, Placensia

I have just become aware that FamilySearch.org makes a distinction between
the "...cia" and the "...sia" forms of this name. It is my impression that
these names are interchangeable.

I wasn't complaining, just noting this for those who are researching this
name. Its just something I hadn't realized before and thought it might be
helpful to others.

do not take it as a complaint in the case of mine, in the books of the
Catholic igesia meeting Bucket When a sow was valdes, these errors were also
notaries of the church, but seekers famliysearch in the world and all have
tricks, eg I have an uncle named Macario and not well written out, but if
you write if you leave Macario
anyway perdon
