Conflict of information

What do we do when we find that, for example, the parents named in one document are entirely different from those in another (I don't mean the difference between Jose and Josef, but entirely different people). I have a couple, Jose Vicente Gomes and Maria Joaquina Franco, who when they married gave there parents' names as: Groom: Francisco Gregorio Gomez and Maria Antonio Martin del Campo Bride: Manuel Julian Jimenez and Gertrudes Garcia de Alba

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18447-45281-16?

Recently I found a baptism for their child which mentions the grandparents as:

Paternal: Vicente Gomez and Anna Maria Garcia de Alba
Maternal: Blas Franco and Angela Baldivia

Any suggestions?

Juan de Tiscareño y su esposa Ýsabel Romo de Vibar y Rangel

I have a friend's genealogy well-documented from online images of the original registers (from FamilySearch) through Ýsabel de Tiscareño Romo de Vibar (bau. 04 de agosto de 1675), "... hija legitima de el Capitán Juan de Tiscareño y Dª Ýsabel Romo de Vivar ...". Does anyone have proof that this Juan de Tiscareño is the same person who was baptised in Aguas Calientes el 12 de nobiembre de 1638, "... Juº hijo legitimo de Luís de los Reyes y Juª de Vargas ..."? Also, does anyone have proof of the birth (baptism) of the Ýsabel Romo de Vivar mentioned above? Ýsabel was buried "... en la Yglesia de San Diego ..." (en Aguas Calientes) el 15 de junio de 1692 "... mujer de Juan Tiscareño ...".

I have documented nine children of this couple in Aguascalientes between about 1558 (Margarita) and about 1678 (Nicolás)—I have located baptismal records of six of the nine—and I am reasonably confident about two- to three generations beyond Ýsabel, but I lack proof that her husband, Juan de Tiscareño, is the same person named in the 1638 baptism.

Everything quoted is from one or more of the online images of the original parish registers. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, and with best wishes,
Lawrence Bouett

Help (Barbara Andrews)

Hello Barbara,

In response to your question below to Joseph, I learned that those of us who use "gmail" will not see their posts when submitted although everyone else will. Does not make sense to me but that is apparently how "gmail works"..... :-)

Good luck!

Hello Joseph,

I wanted to find out if I've been doing something wrong. I posted a suggestion to the Subject "Help" posted by Laura Gonzalez on Nuestros Ranchos website. I noticed that you emailed all the responses except mine. I was wondering if I did something wrong when I responded? Not the first time this has happen, so I thought I may have sent it incorrectly.

Thanks,

Common Ancestor - Raquel Ruiz

Hi Raquel,

In checking the pedigree charts that you shared on NR, I believe that I have established a link with your ancestors Gonzalo Yanez del Monte y Geronima de Benavides.

Gonzalo Yanez del Monte y Geronima de Benavides are my husband Florentino (Tino) L Corbera's 9th Great Grandparents.

Tino's Maternal Line:
Mother Ma Refugia Perez-->Ma Andrea Aguirre Andrade-->Ma Senovia Aguirre-->Jose Timoteo Aguirre-->Joseph Leonicio Contreras Aguirre-->Ma Phelipa Gonzalez Contreras-->Melchora Losano Gonzalez-->Bernardo Gonzalez-->Luis Gonzalez Dominguez-->Ma Florencia Yanez-->Gonzalo Yanez del Monte y Geronima de Benavides (9th GGParents)

Tino's Maternal Grandfather
Mother Ma Refugia Perez-->Jose Fernando Aguirre Perez-->Ma Aniseta Losano Aguirre-->Jose Miguel Aguirre-->Joseph Joaquin Aguirre-->Ma Phelipa Gonzalez Contreras-->Melchora Losano Gonzalez-->Bernardo Gonzalez-->Luis Gonzalez Dominguez-->Maria Florencia Yanez-->Gonzalo Yanez del Monte y Geronima de Benavides (9th GGParents)

There's another line from Tino's Maternal Grandfather:
Mother Ma Refugia Perez -->Jose Fernando Aguirre Perez-->Jose Victoriano Rodriguez Perez-->Maria Ynes Rodriguez-->Ma Rosalia Sandoval-->Juan Manuel Sandoval--> Juana Josepha Gonzalez-->Joseph Gonzalez Losano-->Bernardo Gonzalez-->Luis Gonzalez Dominguez-->Ma Florencia Yanez-->Gonzalo Yanes del Monte y Geronima de Benavides (10thGGParents)

If I'm reading your chart correctly your ancestor is Lorenzo Yanez del Monte son of Gonzalo Yanez del Monte y Geronima de Benavides. I have Lorenzo Yanez del Monte(Tino's 8th GreatGrandUncle) married to Maria Rodriguez de la Mora (she daughter of Juan Rodriguez de la Mora y Ysabel Delgadillo. Maria is an aunt by marriage, but most likely we may have another connection via the Mora and Delgadillo lines, I have not link those two lines as of yet).

Once we establish this is a correct linking I can then send you an ahnentafel chart.

Diego Alvarez Tostado

Hello Memebers, I have a hard time reading a marriage record -San Juan de Los Lagos -1722-1770 Image # 297-298. The Marriage record belongs to Lorenzo Alvarez Tostado married to Francisca Rita Munoz de Nava (daughter of Jose Munoz de Nava and Micaela Gomez de Mendoza) Jan. 15.1748. The Father of Lorenzo Alvarez Tostado states Diego Alvarez Tostado, but the mother I think says Rita Maria Moran Fernandez de Rueda. Any guesses ?
Thank you for time

Autosomal Testing

To List Members,

Has anyone in this List Group been autosomal tested?

If so, what information did it supply that helped with your research ?

Were you the only one in your family that was autosomal tested?

What company did you use for this test?

I'm not asking for individual names that appeared on your test results print out, just how it was beneficial to you?

From the test results did you link with others on your test print out that you didn't know about before taking the test?

I'm trying to decide if this is a test that would be beneficial in learning more about my husband's paternal and maternal Native American ancestry.

Thank you,

Pat Silva Corbera

FAMILY SEARCH LABS UPDATE

Hi All, familysearch just released the Catholic records for Durango! I have a couple so I am very happy!
They combined all Catholic records into one section. This also include a section Nueva Espana new records
called: Comandancia General de las Provincias Internas? Hope this helps some members in the group.
As I was told Zacatecas is supposed to come out very soon, Can't wait for that.

Help?

Hi everyone,

I spent most of my summer working on genealogy (I'm a teacher, so I was on vacation). I've just come back after a hiatus and I thought the time off might clear my head and give me some more ideas about how to find missing relatives. No such luck.

Maybe you can help with some ideas?

I'm looking for my ggrandmother, Vita Castañeda Galván. I have found other documents mentioning her, but not a baptismal certificate (which I have now become fixated on).

Name: (Ma) Vita Castañeda Galvan
Born: abt 1881-1883 (according to her marriage cert., she was 18 in 9/1899, birthday in June. Took place in Capilla de la Ermita)
Place: Jerez, Zac (Los Cuervos or El Tesorero). Everyone else was baptized at La Inmaculada)
Father: Gregorio Castañeda Segobia
Mother: (Ma.) Ysabel Galván Márquez
Paternal grandparents: Juan Casteñeda Gonzales, Jesus Segobia Martí
Maternal grandparents: Toribio Galván Llamas, Margarita Márquez Villegas

I've looked under Castañon, Castellanos, etc.,Galvan, with no luck. I've also gone through the images of books from La Inmaculada, with no luck.

Her marriage certificate says she was legitimate. Any other ideas?

ALSO, she told everyone she was born in 1870, but that isn't true according to everything else I've found. She was widowed at some point in the 20s (in Texas) and ended up marrying a first cousin (no children). Why would a woman lie about her age, making herself about 10 years older?

Gracias,
Laura González

Research Digest, Vol 83, Issue 2

LAURA,
HI, I hope this reaches you.  I am not familiar as to how to respond to this.  Well in regards to Vita Castaneda, Have you tried maybe looking for the name Victoria, Vitaliana, and Vitalina.  I Know that sometimes churches would shorten Names.

Help with origin of the Esquibia family, Mesquiticacan, and laborios

Does anyone know where the Esquibia brothers, Lorenzo and Francisco hail
from? They show up in the Nochistlan area (Mesquiticacan--is that an
early version of Mexticacan?) in the 1660s. Lorenzo and his wife Juana
Yanez del Monte are my 8ggpts. I've not located a mg record, but have
located 5 children between 29 Aug 1667 and 20 Jun 1677, Maria, Antonia,
Juan. Lorenzo, and Nicolasa.

One baptismal record stated that they were "laborios todos". Does that
just mean they were all manual laborers, or does it mean more? They are
consistently labeled as espanoles.

Thanks for any help or clarification.

Ynchaurregui Tarahumara caciques

Hello

Tarahumara on your family tree?

Below is a link fra the Informacion Matrimonial for Ojo Caliente in Zacatecas (1794 - 96). The person named in the documenent is named as a cacique and as the the son of Tarahumara caciques.

The name looks like Augustin Ynchaurregui but I am not sure. His coming wife has the last name Montellano. images 297- 299 and the date is 23 Dec 1795.

Its not often that there is any information about ethnic affiliation beyond caste, therefore I thought I would share this. The name Ynchaurregui is Basque.

Question Regarding Sombrerete

Hello Researchers,

I am interested in viewing church entries that would pertain to people living around Sombrerete, Zacatecas in the 1620-40's. The earliest records I see on Familysearch start in around 1678. There weren't distinctive state lines during that era, and everything in that mining region sort of blends together, so where do I go for church entries? I would think everything was under a certain jurisdiction.

Thanks,

Alice
