What would these funds be used
for.  I'm not real clear on this...

Well
the support committee would be making the final decision on that. But my reason
for suggesting the funds creation was to have small stipends available to send
to members of the Ranchos group that found themselves in need. And for causes
that would directly benefit the purpose of the Ranchos group. We would all be
able to submit suggestions for the use of the funds but the committee would make
the final decision on the distribution.

there are many places on the web where you can do this free. Here is a
site I use: http://www.webshots.com/

sign up for the free not the premium account. You would then either
send the link to your photos to the group or put a link to your photos
in the "links" area of the group. Try it I think you'll like this
service.

Bravo John!  Very interesting research, so much in
such a short time.  Keep us apprised of what you find on Jose Maria
Gonz de Hermo., and the Gonzales clan.  I've read the same about both towns
claiming him.  There is a book on the subject--I skimmed through it a
while back.  Maybe someone else can remember the book.
As far as the Vallejo clan & Mariano
Vallejo. ..  Have you been to Sonoma where his family
lived.  You can tour the  Home where the Vallejos lived during
the Bear Flag Rebellion.  The home which is now a museum has a lot of
interesting history on his family.  It is just outside of the town in
Sonoma--just North West of Sacramento.  I seem to recall that his family
came via Guadalajara.  Don't recall where he & his wife Benicia
(the town of Benicia is name after her) were married.  I remember reading
something about his Vallejos being from Guadalajara at their home in
Sonoma.  There is also a group that researches Californio
families.  I've seen it in

Toribio Romo -- Mexico's Ghostly Benefactor of Illegal Aliens!

Santo Toribio has many of the features that are
commonly seen in Romos even of today.  My aunt married a Romo, and many of
my cousins have a striking ressemblance (mostly the beautiful eyes-whether they
be brown/green/blue) to Santo Toribio.  Since they haven't done any
research, I've been trying to figure out any connections for them.  In
doing this, I was able to tie in my dad's side of the family to Santo
Toribio's mother who is NOT a Romo.  This is how I came to "meet" John
G.  I still have more work to do on my Romos & my cousin's.  I
also thought that my Santa Ana Romos would tie into Rincon de Romos.  My
cousins claim that their father often told them they weren't related to the
Romos of Santa Ana--that they were from San Luis Potosi.  I just think that
their features are a bit too much to ignore.  Gotta go and dig some
more....
Emilie, am I understanding that you have Romo too, and that
you tied into the Romos in Rincon de Romos?  Just wondering...  I know
there

Toribio Romo -- Mexico's Ghostly Benefactor of Illegal Aliens!

John,

I had never heard of the saint you are related to, so I started browsing
the internet for information on him, and I found this interesting article (check
link above).  What was fascinating to me is the picture of Toribio
Romo.  He bears a striking resemblance to my husband, his father, and his
great-grandmother Marciana Cervantes who was from Encarnacion de Diaz in Jalisco
and whose ancestors I have traced to Rincon de Romos in Aguascalientes which is
just south of our areas of interest in Zacatecas.

How lucky you are to have traced your ancestors back to 1550; I've been
working so hard for over five YEARS and have only found our people back to
the early 1700's. Was Santo Toribio Romo perhaps guiding you?  The article
goes into a deep discussion about guardian angels, etc. all the way back in
history even before the Hebrews.

May Santo Toribio help us all in meeting our goals as he has helped others
of our people.

Los Cuervos?

Does anyone know where Los Cuervos might be located or might have been located back in the early 1800's? I have a tia who is 83 years old and she was in San Jose this Thanksgiving weekend and mentioned that she had heard that my GGGrandfather Prudencio Olmos had split from the Olmos family back in the early 1800's and that as a result of that split there may have been two separate Olmos families that originated in Los Cuervos. One branch stayed put and the other was established in Nochistlan Zac. but she doesn't know if Los Cuervos is in Jalisco, Zacatecas or Aguascalientes.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated........Alicia Carrillo........San Jose, Ca
