A Call For Batch Numbers/Digest/Cal Berkeley

Joseph,

I have copies of the Parish and Vital Records Index, for all of
Mexico. Which lists about 90% of the batch numbers, for Mexico. I
can send whoever would like a copy. I have it, in a PDF format.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Inside Scoop on the Family History Library

Alicia,

Just because
the films, are in the vault, it doesn’t mean that no one has ever looked
at the films, in Salt
Lake
.  A few years
ago, the policy was, that when a film was ordered from the vault, it stayed in
the FHL for a few weeks, then it was sent back.  Also, you don’t
know if the film is also, in other centers, elsewhere.

If you have 47
films, that you want to look at, and they are in the vault.  I would
suggest, getting in touch with the Library and getting them ordered.  So
they are there when you arrive.  Because, you can only order 5 films per
day.

They, also
have a book scanner on the Main floor, so you can scan the book.  Also,
there are copiers on each floor.

Thanks,

Jonathan

PAF Question

Kitty,
I would suggest trying the program PAF Companion. It offers more
reports that what PAF does, by itself.

But, from what I understand that you want. I would sugest just
printing a pedigree chart and printing the supporting family group
records.

Thanks,
Jonathan

List Your Films Please: was FHC Westwood

I didn't know about this index until I went to the FHC. They have a
link on their computers, so that saved me a lot of time.

the bag. In the Ranchos2 files [look under "members films"] area is a
place where members can list their permanent films. I know that some
of those films might not be exactly yours but if you could why not
make a list of all the films you have "permanently" available via
your family history center that have to do with Jalisco

PAF Question

Hi Jon

We are using PAF 5.2.  When we print we go to Reports
and Charts,  there we click on Ancestry and we don't get children
listed.  If we click on Books and use Ahnentafel (Ancestry) we also don't
see children listed and  there is no connection between generation.
It doesn't  mention who the parents are, you have to go to the next
generation up and guess who they were.  This makes it hard since we have
many lines with the same surname.
So we used Books, and clicked on Modified register
Descendancy.  This give us a report from our oldest ancestor to our most
recent. and does list all children and their connection.  But this created
37 different files for us to download for the Ranchos.  We were looking for
a way to print four reports in reverse,  from his grandparents
backwards to the 9th, 10th, or 11th generation listing children and
parents.

I guess one of these days we should buy one of the newer
programs, but we like the simplicity of the  PAF
version.

All de la Puentes; Alonso; Ana;, Catalina; Diego Lopez de la; Fabian;

Francisco; Juan; Juana; and Martin

For Juana:  it reads as follows:

Where is Nuevo Reino de Granada?  They are talking about New Spain, right?

I am in the 1600' on some lines but not in the earlier years., however, I am glad I bought the books.  They were purchased from the "Ministerio  de Cultura".  It would be interesting to find out if they are still available.  Vol VI was published in 1986.  At the time I purchased the books the office was on Gran Villa street....it has been a few
