Does anyone have any information on Martin Enríquez (whose mother was Magdalena de Saldaña) and Isabel de Ulloa? They lived and had children in Colotlán, in Las Vocas, and at least two of their children married there.

Having descended from the Hurtado de Mendozas and the Perez, Franco families from Los Altos, I would be very interested in this documentation. These are my father's lines, and although we have always been very Catholic, I have noticed a few small things that might be Sephardic in general.
I have also read the chapter from "Retonos..." where Mariano dispels Jewish and French lines. In my research, I have never ran across French names, Altenos are a very closed society--remember: is mejor conocido que por conocer--proper Altenas would never run off and marry a French soldier, plus the French were never known to be in our area. I vaguely recall Mariano's references to these people being a very Catholic society (remember la Cristiada), and he did give examples of why this society could not be Jewish. Possibly we were Jewish, but it was too long ago to really matter in everyday life.
At any rate, I would be interested in this documentation you have run across. I do recall that the Perez came from Huelva, Espana, and the former prime minister of Israel, Shimon Perez. That's about it.

Most of The first families from jalisco were related through the hernandez de hijar and the hurtado de mendoza and there is clear documentation showing at least 4 moor lines and other jewish (marano) lines this is not an opinion, there is clear evidence of this. The mountains where the mendoza family came from was originally a jewish area. Many of The families that the mendoza married into in Castilla also originated from this jewish area. I also believe that the perez that married into the francos to form the perez franco de paredes family were from the jewish perestrello family of portugal this family was originally the Pallestrelli family of Genoa. This last bit of info is the only info here that has not been clearly documented yet and some people disagree with my opinion of where the perez came from.
I repeat, the connection to the hernandez de hijar and mendoza lines to jewish and moorish ancestors have been documented

I was looking at some old postings on nuestro ranchos and saw that Irma Gomez Lucero and John Gonzalez both descend from people from Los Portales Jalisco. Los Portales is so small that almost everyone that descends from its inhabitants are relatively closely related. Miguel Gutierrez is another nuestro rancho member with Los Portales ancestors. Santo Toribio Romo Gonzalez is related all of us that have Los Portales ancestors.
I was hoping to find out what other nuestro ranchos members have los Portales ancestors.

At the same time that I can report, wonderful, uplifting projects for Hispanic/Latino heritage and history, there are other happenings that indicate our history is still being submerged, discredited, and erased.
Concerning Father Serra, I researched more fully the history of the National Hall of Statuary. I came away even more puzzled why a Latino California Senator would take the lead to remove Father Junipero Serra from visibility in Washington, D.C. The article is the first under United States. Surely it will stir your curiosity.
I also stumbled across a short article written by the National Constitution Center, wonderful title, but questionable reliability.
This is who they say they are:
"The National Constitution Center is the first and only institution in America established by Congress to “disseminate information about the United States Constitution on a non-partisan basis in order to increase the awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people.”
Yet the article is a classic slanted piece, in which within the article it contradicts itself. First article under East Coast: "10 European colonies in America that failed before Jamestown."
These two cases are worrisome in the fact that they are within the framework of our government.
Another piece that I don't want you to miss is on Black Serving colleges and universities; primarily because many are opening their doors to non-Blacks and offering full scholarships. It is the last article under Education.

Pedro Antonio era hijo de Cristobal Leonel Gomez de Cervantes
nacido hacia 1676 en Guadalajara o la ciudad de Mexico y Francisca
de Lomelin, estos casaron el 23 de octubre de 1709 Tepatitlan,
segun familysearch pero no he podido localizar el registro en los
registros parroquiales de Tepatitlan de dicho epoca, me pregunto
si quizas la fecha fue escrita mal por el extractor. Ana Gertrudis
era hija de Bartolome Velez de la Torre y Juana Manuela de Plasencia
quienes pues la partida dice que era originaria de Guadalajara pero
esta familia radicaron a Cuquio donde bautizaron por lo menos cuatro hijos
entre 1718-1726.
Me pregunto dos cosas. Es obvio que estos Leonel Gomez de Cervantes
viene del comendador Leonel de Cervantes muchas familias importantes
pueden remotar al dicho conquistador. Como es la conexcion de este
Cristobal Leonel Gomez de Cervantes quien debia nacer hacia 1675 basado
en la cronologia y el vinculo con el condado de Santiago de Calimaya,
los Gomez de Cervantes poseyeron el titulo cuando los ultimos miembros de
los Altamirano de Velasco falleceron los heredaron a los fines del siglo
XVIII.
La otra cosa que me pregunto como mi Bartolome Velez de la Torre
tambien nacido hacia 1675 quizas en Guadalajara que es el vinculo
entre el y este Antonio Velez de la Torre quien caso Ines de Guzman
hacia 1670 en San Luis Potosi y componieron su apellido Velez de Guzman
y bautizaron una hija en dicho lugar SLP, Maria josefa Velez de Guzman
tambien utilizaba Velez de la Torre, el 3 de noviembre de 1672. Esta dama
reconocida caso FErnando Garcia de Rojas originario de Sierra de Pinos hijo
de Joseph Garcia de Rojas y Agustina Martinez de Sotomayor. Joseph era natural
de Queretaro y segun el ilustre investigador Javier Sanchiz era hijo de Hernando
Garcia de los Infantes y Sebastiana de Rojas quienes componieron el apellido
Garcia de Rojas. La hija de FErnando G de R y Josefa Velez de Guzman caso
al V Mayorazgo de Cienega de Mata o Rincon el Sr. don Francisco Xavier Pablo
Rincon Gallardo el 22 de febrero de 1727, testo en 1765. Mi madre tiene vinculo a este por otra linea. Hay muchas vinculos cercanos todas estas familias pero
como es la conexcion?

Hello, everyone. I'm researching the Mena family. Our family comes from Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. Specifically, I'm mainly interested in finding the ancestry of my bisabuelo Jose Jesus Mena, born in Lagos de Moreno in June 25, 1897. His mother was named Melquiades Gonzales born around 1872.
The major problem I am having is that he was illegitimate. The civil registration record of his birth does not list his father's full name or his paternal grandparents. The birth record indicates that his birth name was Jesus Gonzales, but all records following immigration to the United States in 1916 use his father's last name - Mena. In his naturalization papers, he says that his father's name was Manuel Mena.
I've looked up several Manuel Mena's who were born in Lagos de Moreno or la Union de San Antonio around the same time as his mother. There are a few possible contenders, but I don't know how to move ahead.
One possible clue is that Jose Jesus Mena was remarkably tall (around 6'2") and had very fine Spanish features. I've wondered if I could research photos of Mena families if I could make a probable guess.
Has anyone else had any luck researching illegitimate children or have any advice?

Hello everyone,
I'm from municipio de Tepetongo, a ranch named "Juanchorrey" I wish to know how or where I can verify the origin of a ranch and if there were registrations once the ranch was officially declared. I once found a dictionary that had municipality names and it was down as "Juancho Rey" elders say it came from three brother Juan-francisco (chon)=rey others say there was a cattle herder names Juan who was called Juan el chorreado, none of which can be confirmed.
