Hello!

I have been searching for parents of the following couple:

Nicolás Gómez (mestizo) cc Inés de Pedroza (mulata libre), their children:

  1. Pedro Gómez de Portugal (mestizo, mulato libre), b. 15 Mar 1692 in Lagos (padrinos: Isidro de Pedroza y Micaela Díaz), IM 9 Feb 1715, m. 24 Feb 1715 cc Nicolasa Báez (hija de Antonio Báez y Felipa de Villegas)
    1. Juana Gertrudis Gómez (Española, mestiza), n. 4 Dec 1721 on Rancho de Portezuelo, b. 21 Dec 1721 in Lagos (padrinos: Marcos de Pedroza and Felípa Sermeño), IM 8 Oct 1740, m. 30 Oct 1740 in Lagos cc. Gabriel Ortiz (Español, mestizo) [gr-gr-grandson of Pedro Ortiz de Anda y Ana Ramírez]
  2. Margarita Gómez (morisca), b. 29 Jun 1694 (padrinos: Bartolomé de Salas y Ana de Anda) [Bartolomé de Salas is the grandson of Pedro Ortiz de Anda y Ana Ramírez, and his wife Ana María de Anda is the daughter of Juan de Anda and María de Ortega.]
  3. Juana Gómez (mestiza), b. 25 Nov 1696 (padrinos: Andrés Gómez y Petronila Ortiz, sumuger)

It is probable that Inés de Pedroza can be identified as the Inés de Pedroza, who is daughter of Isidro de Pedroza (castizo) and Micaela Díaz (mulata). Isidro de Pedroza and Micaela Díaz, as seen above, served as padrinos for the baptism of Inés's son, Pedro Gómez de Portugal. This same Inés is also the sister of Marcos de Pedroza, also mentioned above, who served as padrino for the baptism of Juana Gertrudis, daughter of Pedro Gómez de Portugal and Nicolasa Báez. Interestingly, Marcos de Pedroza's wife, Felipa Sermeño, was also the sister of Nicolasa Báez, wife of Pedro Gómez de Portugal.

If anyone has more definitive evidence identifying Inés de Pedroza, wife of Nicolas Gómez, with Inés de Pedroza, daughter of Isidro de Pedroza and sister of Marcos de Pedroza, I would be grateful to hear it.

Her husband, Nicolás Gómez, is more difficult to identify. Since his son, Pedro used the Gómez de Portugal surname upon occasion, I believe it is possible that he descends from Pedro Gómez de Portugal and Isabel Ortiz de Anda. Many descendants of Pedro Gómez de Portugal and Isabel Ortiz de Anda, like Nicolás, are frequently identified as mestizos. Furthermore, as with Nicolás, at least four of their more immediate descendants married into families closely related to the Díaz de Abrego family (the family of Micaela Díaz, mother-in-law of Nicolás Gómez).

If anyone can identify the parents of Nicolas Gómez, husband of Inés de Pedroza, or knows additional information about him, I would appreciate your reply.
